SOLVED -- Windows 7 hide empty drive icons not working
Sunday, August 23, 2015 by gevansmd | Discussion: Windows Discussion
I don't know what changed, but suddenly I am seeing all the empty drive letters from my multi-card reader. The option to hide them is checked, the shell hardware detection service is running, but now I have all the extra drive letters I don't want to see. I even have a network location entry for a desktop.ini configuration file showing in the Explorer computer window.
Any ideas? Google has failed me.

That's it Jim! Thanks. I had turned on the show hidden files and folders option just recently to track down a setting and then left it selected. Funny, no one in any of the forums I searched suggested that. Wincustomize is king (lowercase)!

Your wife posts here sometimes and she describes you more as a knave rather than king.

I'm guessing that you have the option checked to show hidden items AND the option to hide empty drives. In which case, the drive icons are probably dimmed out, but visible.
