Jafo, just for informational purposes: The other day you put in a link by adding a space after the http:// part because something was wrong with my browser for just plain clicking on links.
Anyway the problem has been resolved by me using the repair option of XP i.e.:
Try repairing the Windows XP installation. To do so:
Turn off any antivirus program and BIOS-level antivirus protection. For help, see the appropriate software manual or online Help.
Make sure that the CD-ROM or DVD-ROM drive is the first priority startup device in your computer's BIOS settings. See your computer's documentation for information about how to do this.
Insert the Windows XP CD-ROM in the CD-ROM or DVD-ROM drive, and then restart your computer.
When the "Press any key to boot from CD" prompt appears, press a key so that your computer starts from the Windows XP CD-ROM.
When the computer starts from the CD-ROM, your hardware is checked, and then you are prompted to select an option. Press ENTER.
Press F8 to accept the Licensing Agreement.
Your current Windows XP installation is listed, and then you are prompted to select an option. Press R to start the automatic repair process. After Windows XP is repaired, you may have to reactivate Windows XP if you changed some hardware.
Not only fixed that problem but some other minor glitches and I did not lose any funtionally of any other appts.
Just wanted to pass this on in case anyone else is having problems with "default" setup's.

ah actually all you have to do is....
click : START : - : Run : and in the Command line Open Box enter:
/ rundll32 setupwbv.dll,IE6Maintenance
click : OK :
the location to the installation files are embedded in your registry so you
should not have to direct it to any folder...

you do not have to have the CD in to do this...
all of the IE installation files are located in cab files in your Winnt folder from the origional installation....
remeber when it said, copying needed windows files to hard drive for installation?
If your using an OEM preinstall, you woulnd't have seen that message, but they are there all the same, saves time this way...
