One More Time

In a previous thread I asked if anyone would like to help with a skin because I can't seem to make up my mind on how it is going to look.
I thought if I had a gun I would shoot this skin and put it out of its misery. So I have decided to put bullet holes into it.
The problem is my bullet holes look like knot holes since the skin is now a wood theme.
Would anyone be interested in fixing the holes to look more like bullet holes?

I was thinking about a bullet into wood would splinter or something on that order.
I am wondering where an example picture of that would be. What would be a key word search.

First, I agree with WOM a bullet in wood would be clean going in thus no effect.
I tried the burn tool and it gets too orangey "Jafo is that a word?".
Your best bet is cutting out and drop shadow with 9 or so blur.
The only thing is now looking at your top frame image, it looks more like marble to me which would change everything.
Then it would crack a bit more. Here is a tutorial I came across. It is for metal but it may help if you mess around with it a bit.

Good luck!!

I was thinking the holes should be transparent but part of the entire plan is to have the holes as buttons also.
Slider glyph, arrows, frame buttons, etc.
I have a picture of the finished skin to look like Bonnie and Clyde's car.

Depending on the wood grain [type] and size of projectile, the wood will open grain cracks....and again the heat of impact will tend to scorch the timber.
If the bullet passes through, the grain will splinter away from you, [behind the wood].
To create it, every graphic proggy has a paint brush.....just paint/draw it. There is certainly no need for whacky filters....

I am using a really old wooden fence, from a picture, as the wood in the skin and cracks and such from the hole would enhance the aging.
I tried making the hole from the tutorial but guess i read it wrong
BTW: My offer for anyone to help with this skin is still open and will be until it is uploaded.
None of the XP is done or the 4.0 stuff.

I assume you mean holes as you often see them in glass...?
