Ever design your own personal website?

Wednesday, January 15, 2003 by joetheblow | Discussion: WinCustomize Talk

Well... have you?

I am trying but my new job takes up most of my time and the rest I spend sleeping to recover. (more on that later)

I have my website designed but I don't like it. I liked it before but now I can't stand it. Because of this delilmia (spell?) I can't do anything creative. I got like this mental creative block or something.

My emotions are going through the roof over here. I am so irratable because I can't figure out what to do next. It is driving me crazy.

I'm going to bed.

Oh, and don't forget the retro 80's video game gloriously redone that people can play while the intro's loading!

I use to monitor web pages for Talk City looking for pirates and also for good pages. A good page is a page that keeps a person there. I found myself at Splash! page for awhile. Nice page.

I've redesigned my site 6 times in less than a year and a half. Still working on #6..... never satisfied.....
Having a slow connection, has made me aware of slow loading pages, so I go for speed, rather than pazazz...

it is suppossed to be simple... like some joe blow designed it or something. but I wanted the content to be more in depth with news stories, sign in, designs, featured artists, and my major pet project is a area where people can upload or send a link to a intenet advertizing ad that they like or entertained them. I wanted to start the first annual internet ad design awards.

Now I am just stuck on what I want the very simple pages to look like.

so now the main page just looks like this:

You know Pretender - that menu would look absolutely gorgeous in something like Hoverdesk. *sighs*

I don’t have hoverdesk I do have object desktop. And as every thing is free on my site for every one to use except for resale or to put there name on it your welcome to use any graphic on there so you’re welcome to use it. 3D was easy for me to figure out but as for object desktop I need to find beginner tutorials ever time I try to reengineer some one else’s it looks like there’s only different colors so as soon as I find out how to use all the tools then I will use my graphics to make 3d type stuff but for now I’ll just have to wait. So use any thing you want.

I may just have to do that. There's a simple elegance to them that would compliment my current wallpaper beautifully.

(and hopefully will still work nicely after I get bored with this wall and change it in a day or two. ^.^)

I have 2 very busy websites. One is a personal site where I display my art, photograhy and such: http://www.xerraire.com

Another is a skins site, it keeps me very busy, and in fact is a very busy site. It has nearly 10,000 people on the mailing list, and I take submissions of skins and wallpapers too! Stop in: http://www.mxskinz.com

Yup http://jobeleca.bravepages.com/3dna/ I've done quite a few personal sites, not too fond of the design of that one, but not going to bother changing it now. I also do small personal sites for my friends quite often.

Well let's see here... I run an epublishing site with a nice clean layout, though I'm gonna be redoing it in something darker soon. Looking to learn asp in the process to make it easier.

http://members.shaw.ca/fhs

I also work for an online magazine, and February's edition's aaaaaalmost ready to go (later this week) and it'll be up at this one http://www.saskworld.com/bodymindspirit

Each edition has it's own look and feel, kinda like skinning the entire site

My own personal site is, well, simple as hell. http://24.66.225.251

That about does it for me

I've been redoing my site since '95. Problem is, while I'm working out one idea, I get a better idea. So I abandon the first idea and head for the second And then it happens all over again. So nothing ever gets done.

In the end I decided to give up and stuck this up instead: http://www.ecliptic.dds.nl
