Let The process begin
Thursday, February 12, 2015 by Nimbin | Discussion: WinCustomize Talk
Well my Partner and I have taken the plunge and bought a block of land and will be building our dream home. At the moment we are in the planning stage with a reputable builder. For those Aussies it's GJ Gardner Homes. We are auctioning the house in Melbourne in March so the proceeds from that will be more than enough to cover the entire costs for our new abode. So far in 2 open days there have been 68 groups of people gone through the house, 10 of those have requested engineering reports and 3 have consulted builders to visit and give them ideas on renovations or extensions. It's in a great part of Melbourne to. Ascot Vale, 5 minutes from Flemington Racecourse. I have a feeling the bidding is going to get hot on auction day. I will post progress pictures as each major point in the construction process is reached. But hopefully we should be in by Christmas or very early in the New Year. Oh we are building in Bendigo where we currently live so theres no location change ![]()

Incompetence and/or inaccuracy are not defences for theft
LOL. I thought it my not be very tactful to mention that to em.... I am happy that the issue is resolved though. The people who own the block behind us which have our meter are not to happy but that's their problem. I was open to them buying the extra bit but they didn't wanna do that either so in the words of my grandfather "fuck em" lol. We want our land back then
Had me worried there for a moment....
a 'meter' is a thing that measures....
a 'metre' is a measurement....

[had visions of a gas meter or water meter being on the wrong block]

"Metre" is french so arguably an American spelling is 'incorrect' at best...![]()

Next lot of photos. Builder is telling us that the house will be finished in about 6 or 7 weeks. Thats a month ahead of the planned completion date. But i aint getting excited. When we get the keys i will get happy.

Kitchen with the tiling done

Laundry pretty much finished except for the door which is still to be painted, and lights and power points

My partners favourite bit. The walk in butlers pantry with shelving fitted. Lights and power points to come

Main bathroom... Or as my daughter would have you believe "HER" bathroom. lol

Vanity and sink in the main bathroom.

Master bedroom looking towards the en suite and massive walk in robe. Separate shower and toilet which is a major bonus as well.

It must be nice to have a 'new' house..... last 'new' one I lived in was in 1962.
Thing I'm in now [and have been since '87] was built around 1910 ...![]()

It is all looking very nice, Nimbin... and when you've got your furniture/decor set up where you want it it'll look even better.
Not long to go now!

Yes, it'd be nice.... not that I'll be doing so any time soon.... unless somebody's renting me one.

Yeah, but the older houses have a certain character and charm... especially the old Queenslanders.

We looked at some older houses with a view to having them removed and re stumped onto the block. But in Bendigo there were very few that could be moved that we liked. I did want to go with the miners cottage to, but to extend on those involved so much red tape due to heritage reasons it made the cost prohibitive.

Suppose i should post a layout of the actual interior design.

A real shame there is no home cinema. I always assumed people with new houses of this size would have at least an entertainment room of some sort/home cinema. I still cannot get over the size of the garage!
Can imagine it'll look mighty impressive when all the outdoor/entry lights are setup.

Flooring in the family/dining/kitchen/hallways.

Light bar in the dining room, Will be diretcly over the dining table etc

Main entrance light. Showing the industrial light bulbs. Same bulbs as the dining room light bar. Not really for lighting but for asthetics.
