From what I've heard, litestep is not for the feeble minded

There are a few litestep guru's around here, they will probably drop you a line eventually.

Litestep is not a toy... It is very serious software that is not easily used. In other words if you have no idea what you are doing don't mess around with it. However if you are interested in it go here to start:

http://www.litestep.com/

I hope you like to read, you won't find much help with Litestep if you haven't done your homework first....

Good luck!

You can get the iteStep installer from this page. http://www.litestep.com/modules.php?op=modload&name=Downloads&file=index&req=viewdownload&cid=21 It's pretty painless. That isn't to say though that there isn't a learning curve. To become competent, there is a lot of reading involved. If you're after something simpler, you might look at DesktopX, Hoverdesk or Talisman.

I'm fairly 'adept' with LiteSTEP, but I'm still learning new tricks...and I started 5 years ago...
On win9x it's fairly simple, as no reg editing is required, as with NT-based systems [XP].

Shell replacement tends to be a bit more precarious than such things as skinning WinAMP...because if you bungle it you can end up shell-less and perhaps without a clue as how to recover.

I've never used them [apart from writing my own one], but Installers should take most of the pain away....and read up on 'OTS'-compliant themes, as they tend to have less 'issues' than many of the older 'methods' of theme switching.
Learn to RTFM...it helps a lot.

Just take your time understanding what it's all about and you'll be fine...
