Any gadget/widget creation requests?
I'm bored...

Does anyone want something made in DesktopX or xWidgets?
The table below lists requests which have been made in this thread and the skinners/creators who have expressed an interest in taking them on.
It does not indicate they are actually going to complete/finish any request, just that they might be doing so or be giving them a try.
| Request | Requestor | Skinner |

Full screen image on all monitors when user has not had a 'break' for a period of time. With an unlock button and time out. 90% completed. |

Thanks!
If Skarny gets to busy with the other request I can do this for you no problem. I know how to make xwidgets and clocks are my favorite to do.[quote who="JuniorCrooks" reply="17" id="3508259"]

You're welcome, Barb. XWidget is free, btw

Does it have to be the same clock as what is in the movie or just something similar?

Ok, other than tweaking it to make it work if ZubaZ finds any faults and then a spit and polish for release, I'm 90% done on the full screen 'lock/idle' thing. Anyone else? I'm going to add a 'shortcut launcher' a *bit* like fences as per a request in another thread. But need more. That one is going to be too easy ![]()

I knew that...you didn't have to remove it. I was being facetious.

I'd like a skinnable media player that will have a visualization window that opens in a frame, also skinnable, and is resizeable.
But, I guess you'll say, use Xion.

What can't you do in the Winamp / Xion / Windows Media Player skinning functionality?
Reply #32 Tuesday, November 25, 2014 9:09 PM
I don't/can't skin Winamp or Windows Media Player.
I don't know that Xion supports video.

I have been on holiday since last Monday but I am testing the widget/gadget/pack now.
At the moment it changes teh wallpaper as designed (and based on the design reqs).
Having used it though, when focus is on the second monitor the wallpaper is changing in the background but the window that has focus (that I am typing in) maintains focus so that it can be safely ignored.
Two monitor system, typing on WC in chrome on monitor two. New wallpaper image on monitor 1 covers all windows. New wallpaper on monitor 2 changes behind chrome.
Would is be possible to set more aggressive options? Level one: change wallpaper, level 2: lock PC, Level 3 disable input for five minutes

Do you mean the chrome window stays *in front* fully visible of the wallpaper overlay?
I'll have a fiddle and see if I can make the 'keep on top' aspect more aggressive. DesktopX already has an 'always on top' setting which I've used, but it's possible that it doesn't always get the priority. I can also apply a regular half second 'put me on top again' type command.
L1 would keep the wallpaper change in the background and all other user input unaltered?
L2 locking the PC - I'll check
L3 You sure!? LOL If the PC locks and then all input is ACTUALLY disabled for a period of time you could find yourself extremely angry.
And if an 'unlock' hotkey was set it would defeat the purpose. And if you did it for kids (who don't know the secret key) you may find an unceremoniously powered off PC or keyboard in pieces.
I'll work on L1 and L2. My concern would be anything which actually runs the risk of work being lost. E.g. some weird setting means sending a 'lock PC' command results in applications shutting down without saving, or a sleep mode activating that doesn't recover properly. e.g. my laptop sleep mode when wakes up doesn't enable USB ports properly - so anything that was running from USB drives just dies.
Please it's working though fairly well - any errors or virus warnings or somesuch? Are you using the gadget or the widgets/pack?

This might need some more thought

Hi,
I haven't been here in a while, but maybe someone can help me. My favorite weather gadget is July Weather made quite a while ago. I have it on all my computers.
It has the five day forecast with description below, and it is transparent. I am still on Windows XP on one of my computers. When it breaks, there was a place to go to delete the Gadget cache so I could install a new one, but I can't remember where it is.
Can someone tell me how to do it.
Thanks,
Darco

Wouldn't it be "Documents and Settings" instead of "Users" if it was in Windows XP?

Hi,
Thanks for all the reply's. What I did is work my way back from Internet Temporary files, and found it it Documents and Settings/HP Administrator/Local Settings/ Applications Data/Stardock/DesktopX/Gadget Cache. I deleted the folder July Weather and can not delete it in Temp Internet files, so I can not load it again. I guess this XP is finally giving up on me. I still have it installed on my Windows 7 laptops and it is working.
If you are looking for some gadget to make, How about a new version of July Weather. I hope, I hope.
Thanks guys and girls, love your work and still drop in from time to time.
Thanks most of all for the help with my computer.
From an old gal.
Darco

I just wanted to say that "Full screen image on all monitors when user has not had a 'break' for a period of time. With an unlock button and time out." is a fantastic solution. I work from home (at the computer) and one of my favorite passtimes when I'm not working is...yes...playing at the computer. It is not unlike me to sit here for 12 hours straight some days.
Recently I noticed one of my feet was swelling up...didn't remember twisting it or anything...oh well...back to work...the next day it was like 2x the normal size and by the third day it was so swollen the skin was cracking and bleeding. Went to the ER and discovered a blood clot in my lower leg--from sitting too long at the PC.
I've been using just a timer to go off every 90 minutes, but it's really easy to just click it off. I would love a PC lock like was mentioned above, that when it locks up the PC, truly locks you out for a period of time and only re-booting would get you out any earlier.
It might have saved me 2 surgeries a WHOLE lot of pain and about 12,000 in medical bills! (And climbing since I'll be on blood thinners the rest of my life now!)
