Have any of you sent a support ticket in about the issue at hand? I'll pass it along that it's not working as intended.
Also, the forums are free to use.
Read reply #34 - #47
Everyone has just imagined that it hasn't always been this way.

It's not a site issue, it's done by design.

We got that in a past reply, but opinion is, it's a BAD design. And if it is by design, how do you explain the option to turn it off not working? Is that failed option also by design?
That option, unchecked, SHOULD fix the irritation, but as you can see, it isn't working.
It is there for a reason, let's see if we can make it work as it should.
C'mon Spencer, look past the trees and see the forest.

The fact that it isn't working as designed makes it a site issue.
I don't mean to be argumentative, but facts are facts.

.02 - the site automatically checking the "Subscribe to this post" checkbox as soon as you start to type a reply, whether intentional or not, is BAD design. We already have a "My Replies" list we can follow. It should be unchecked until the user chooses to voluntarily check it.
But I don't work for Stardock.

Support says they are looking into MY issue with this, as if it's only me...lol.
I hope they straighten this out, if only for me.

There is no special treatment from support in this forum or any of the other Stardock forums.
The issue will be resolved for all users.
Making threats and acting like 5 year olds does not solve anything.

Harpo, it was a joke. The Gear was being sarcastic. Hankers is correct.

harpo is still pissed off at the forum software(due to poor user design of forced subscriptions and may the stardockers that made this change get buried in thier subscriptions), but now puzzled

what is this 'joke' thing?
It's verbal humour, like "why did the chicken cross the road?".
It's common to most cultures, though it is said that Germans don't have a sense of humour...![]()
"Mein Hund hat keine Nase." "Wie riecht er?" "furchtbar" ...![]()

We do have a sense of humour. It's just hard to find sometimes.
Also, there is no "one German culture". Germany consists of several different peoples, each with their own distinctive culture and dialect (and humour). The more you know...
That joke is ancient.
Here is one I learned during English classes (twenty years ago
):
A German goes into a restaurant in London and orders a steak. After an hour of waiting, it still hasn't arrived. So, the German decides to ask the waiter: "When will I become a steak?" Says the waiter: "I hope never!"
(Just to explain the joke: the German word "bekommen" means "to get". It's a classic case of "false friends".)

I work on a ferry that traffics Oslo, Norway/Kiel, Germany. I have been asked on a number of occasions: "who is the toilet" (to which I reply: Not me, today) and "where is the next toilet" (was there something wrong with the first one)
*Those sentences in German*
Wo ist die Toilette and wo ist die nächste Toilette

I also find the FORCED to subscribe for each thread/reply to be VERY irritating,
and it has only been a couple of weeks since I noticed the HORRIBLE behavior happening,
also I checked my account option forsubscriptions (that I had originally turn OFF was back to ON).
WTF is going on.
I usually just use the replied to threads menu and have NOT EVER wanted OR used subscribed to threads.
harpo the irritated
myfist0 also irritated
