Orright, I'm Here... Back At WC... Again

and that's not the water closet.

Saturday, July 19, 2014 by starkers | Discussion: WinCustomize Talk

So I got the internet conneted on Friday [a couple of days ago] and figured I'd let you folks know how things are/went with the big move.  Hehe, so much for good intentions.... cos I thought bugger you's, I got new toys to play with.... and proceeded to mess around wiv 'em.

Yup, this NBN [National Broadband Network] is the bees knees and is so fast that I gotta be very careful what I type.  I mean, don't wanna be sayin' shit wot ain't appropriate fer internet consumption afore I can proof read it and goes up, now, do I!  Yes, it's that quick.  The techie wot installed it reckons I have one of the best speeds he's seen.  At the time I was receiving 24.95mbs, my overall speed is supposed to be 25mbs, and he said that's excellent, given the connection to my PC was/is wireless.

Anyhow, that doesn't even touch on the other stuff I got.  Apart from the NBN and this space age modem that's just superb, I got this 8" you-beaut tablet-come-phone that's positively loaded with apps and gives me access to a whole range of things without having to bring them up on my PC.  Not only that, I got a space age phone which goes through the NBN, not the old copper network, and has a set of features I'm still learning about.  Like WOW!  Better still, I can use these devices wirelessly anywhere in the house... even out in the shed out back. Shoot, I can even plug in my Panasonic phone to the modem and have up to 6 additional handsets about the place... like I could have phones coming out of my proverbial *** if I wanted to.

So how did the move go?  Not as smooth as I would have liked.  A mate and I did the lion's share of it in his ute [well he probably did 70% of the work] because I couldn't get a truck on the day due to an overbooking and school holidays falling the day before.  We started a 7.00am that day and were still going at 2.30am the next morning.  Let's just say that I was completely knackered for a week or so afterwards and could barely move some days.  Luckily my mate got a friend of his to lift all the heavy items that I couldn't manage, but he was available only for an hour and we couldn't get anyone else to help... leaving me and my mate with the bulk of the shift. Shaunna and her crew were going to help but she hurt her knee and had to stay off it, and a situation arose that took the others elsewhere to attend to a family matter.

Never mind, I got here and I'm loving it.  NO FECHEN STAIRS!!!!!!  Hehe, this living on one level is the go... even the toilet is better.  Yup, when you have  hip, knee and spinal issues, a taller, slightly wider pedestal makes all the difference.  And no comments from the peanut gallery regarding my having a fat arse, orright?

Shoot, I might even try getting into the bathtub as well. It isn't set into the floor as low and has built in hand positions to assist persons with disabilities to get in and out.  Like showers are okay, but a good soak in a tub with some of those fancy bath salts would be excellentamundo.  Another great thing is that there's bus stops in very close proximity [like just across the road and 40m away on our side] and I can get to anywhere I want without the 30 - 40 minute walk like before, meaning I can still get out on days when I'm not feeling overly mobile.

Next subject?  Mothers!   It didn't matter how stiff and sore I was from doing that humongous day's work moving, do you think I could get her to go out and mow the yard?  Nope!  I even brought the petrol mower so's she didn't have to use the push/manual mower, but there was no persuading her.  I even tried a bit of blackmail... didn't work, either.  However, what I lost in the garden I made up for in the kitchen.  Apart from many other talents and abilities, mum is one great cook and I've enjoyed some you-beaut meals since I've been here.

I still have some unpacking and settling in to do, but I'm not under pressure to get it done so I do a bit each day and my man cave in the garage is nicely taking shape. Over the next couple of days I hope to have everything set up, all the electricals plugged in, and me pirate booty situated as necessary.  Hehe, what be tha point o' bein' tha cap'n if'n I don't set it up like a pirate cave?

Okay, so that's it for now.  Grub's up n' I 'aves a shark's appertight.

Fuzzy Logic

It is common knowledge here that the cretin was born in England, and there has been talk of deporting the arsewipe back there,

Yeah, and you crims can have Rolf Harris back

Nope, you lot tried him in a British court and locked him up over there.  Frankly, that's as close to claiming ownership as you can get.

Another one you can have back, Alexander Downer [a former foreign minister here] complete with fishnet stockings and his crotchless panties.

I dunno, why is it we end up with so many British deviants and perverts in Aussie politics?  Is it because their reputations were so tarnished in the UK they had no hope of getting into the House of Commons, thus necessitating a trip overseas to get elected?

Come to think of it, which I do, British politics has had some of the messiest scandals in history, so that wouldn't be it.  Nah, it's a subversive plot to export British perversions to all corners of the globe now the Empire is no longer.

Quoting starkers,

There will be NO selfie.  My Nokia Lumia 820 is a sturdy, well built phone... it's just NOT 'that' good.

I will, however, get some snaps of the man cave when I'm done... though it is going more slowly than I would have liked.  I've had a couple of days with more-severe-than-usual hip, knee and back pain, mixed with a less than pleasant dose of vertigo to hamper proceedings.

The move itself [19 hours all up] took a greater toll on me than I first thought.  I/we really could have used a couple extra pairs of hands, but my nephews were otherwise occupied with work and family commitments, and others were unavailable for a variety of reasons... some I suspect "simply couldn't be bothered"

Oh well, I'm here now and everything will fall into place with time and a bit of effort.

I'm suprised you folk haven't fed Abbott to a Saltie by now

Well... the last two were a psychopath and a lying manipulative shrew playing the chic card... if we fed all the deserving pollies to the salties.... Australia would have a morbid obesity croc problem...  they'd be blowing out from wallets and handbags to complete luggage sets...

...when it comes time to feed Bill Shorten to the salties... I'm sure it will be a welcome, easy to digest meal, as it'll be spineless....

....anyway.... I thought the WC forums were supposed to be free of politics now?.... or is that just a rule for US politics.... way nicer political free I must say...

bet you could have rounded them up at the titty bar...

nah... you can keep him in the Jimmy Savile Memorial Block...

Good to hear you're getting all settled starkers.... nothing like Mum's cooking...      I'm sure you'll both be a great support to one another... and lots of catching up on things.... have fun with your Mum....

Nah, that don't wash!  You were more likely hung over from red wine night.

That or it was Coopers.

Hehe, the only hangover I have these days... is over my belt.

Reminds me of the rabbi who made change purses from sewing together discarded foreskins... just had to rub 'em a little and you'd have an instant suitcase.

sydneysiders

way nicer political free I must say...

Aw c'mon, with politicians being such apt targets, who else we got to poke fun at and ridicule?   Other than bankers?

sydneysiders

nah... you can keep him in the Jimmy Savile Memorial Block...

Dunno 'bout the Jimmy Savile Memorial Block, word has it he's put in for a transfer to Borstal... to see if any juvenile offenders might be interested in his 'extra leg'

Yeah, mum and I are doing great together and we're getting set up quite nicely... with her decor sense and my manual input, we've got the makings of a fantastic and comfortable home.  Not only that, it's company for each other.  She was living alone, as was I, so it's nice to have somebody to talk with and share life with, for us both.  Besides, I'm closer to other family members now so I get to see more of them as well, and with both my brother's boys having children just recently, it's positively fantastic.... hmmmm, babies.

I'd be happier now if I were Rolf Harris.

I'm just a hair's breadth away from calling it quits on everything.

Mother has this mindset that she cannot be wrong no matter what... so no matter what, regarding my own health, feelings or circumstances, she has it all worked out andI must be wrong bt virtue of her own observations, correctness or otherwise.

She haslived 80 plus years so there is no questioning her wisdom....even when I have earache and issues with an ear, nose throat situation, I spend too much time on the computer.  Doesnt matter that I've barely touch my PC for days because I ve beeen too busy unpacking, I'm the imbecile who brings it upon himself.

Put bluntly, I have lost the will atfer tirade after tirade of how I do not measure up.

If our paths cross again then so be it, but too many things that should have been allowed to die years and years ago and weren't, so there is no guarantee.  Beyond the next hour or so I can only promise one thing.... I'm  gonna get blind rotten drunk and consider the easiest options

Don't measure up?! Nonsense.

Just tell yer mum to put a tape measure around what passes for your 'waist' - that huge bulge running around that miserable excuse for a body! She'll change her opinion right quick!

You might think that's a bit harsh, but believe me...you don't want to see the shop I prepared to emphasize my point.

it's a well known fact that as people age.... their mouth filter simply disappears... I've seen this first hand...  if you have too much baggage to co-exist together then start looking for separate digs... you have also got to the age where you need some peace too.. pity... but it either works... or it doesn't....  sometimes a healthy amount of space is needed for good relations to exist.

starkers

consider the easiest options

Stop unpacking boxes!!...  run for the hills...  see if you can move back to your nieces place...

hope it sorts itself out... maybe she just needs to get stuff off her chest and it'll settle down....

maybe sit down and have a talk to her that if this is going to work... she needs to treat you and respect you as an adult... easier said than done though for some Mums who forever see their children... as.. children..and treat them accordingly...

well... I think we can all agree on bankers...

Capt'n, your mom needs to take a little blue pill. This is what I am taking since May. I told my doctor that I need just a little something to take the *edge off* . I really don't want to kill  Mom......... I said if I was a drinker, but I'm not...so now I take a little blue pill. ...In your case, your Mum needs it, not you!  ...oh and don't allow your Mum in your *mancave* ...that can help also!!

and get HUGE industrial strength headphones to use while you're on the computer so you can't hear the lecture that you spend too much time on it... and couple that with Led Zeppelin turned up full... so when you take them off... you still can't hear what she's saying...

Oh oh.....

Why "Oh oh"? Mark's been me shipmate on the "Twisted Sister" since before sliced bread...

Well...that is until we found him dressed in a decidedly unpyratical fashion at his "Ballet for Tubbies" recital.

Even that wouldn't have been so bad, were it not for those bloody pink teddybear (nice tie in, wot?) wifi headphones *someone* recommended to him.
