It may not be quirky or overly original, but "Reliable Residential Repairs" gets right to the point and lets people know what you're about from the get go.  It'd look good on the side of your van...

To the first I added Rapid - maybe too many Rs. The word 'Residential' is a tad long...

we have one here called   Hire a Hubby... and it's very popular... it's probably mainly women who ring for repairs... (men always think they can do it... one day..  )  and it seems to really strike a chord with them... easy to remember.... also makes them feel no job is too small... and there are elderly people who cannot change that high lightbulb...  or change that fuse etc...

you need something catchy and easy to remember when people are recommending you and re booking you after a time...

Something I just thought of Doc, What if you made the sign more wide? If I get  magnetic sign it would probably be wider anyway. Maybe the longer names would not look as bad. Or I can just change it to something else which I have no problem doing.

'On the Level'        is good....  an above board name.... a good way to get... a foot in the door...

Somebody up high obviously didn't like his earliest ancestors when the names were being handed out.

Hehe, which reminds me of shortly after my former brother-in-law had surgery to remove an extra bowel... yes, he had twice as much junk than he was supposed to in there.

Anyway, just as a joke, I said: "Well we know what happened to you when God was handing out the brains."

He sneerily asked: "What?" [we didn't really get along]

"God had run out of brains by the time he got to your place in the queue, so you got an extra bowel instead."

Funnily enough, it's his [my sister's] daughter's house that I'm living in now, but we never see him as he mostly works overseas.

There's room on the right for a picture of you (NOT your avatar...not a good advertising ploy, that)...I'd go with a 'flattened' type image with you turned 1/4 to the right...send it to me (pm) and I'll adjust it suitably (Photoshop, yes...just not my usual ). Also...to the image, your twitter/face book/website and business phone have to be added in Myriad font (the RRR should be "friendly" the rest is "business"...a charcoal rectangle with yellow font hue should be good.

It could dovetail nicely with an advertising flyer along the lines of "From my family I learned the three R's and I've added two of my own: Rapidly and Responsibly...."

I would say leave it out, I think it is to many R words. I like the second color better too. Are you able to add a drop shadow to the letters so they will stand out more? I think the light colors blend in with the background so perhaps a black drop shadow would help. Thanks Doc. I know you are working hard on this for me.

LOL...there is one. It's subtle. I can increase it, no problem...or...add outer glow, blend mode 'multiply'.
