Display Resolution Wonky (RESOLVED)
Sunday, November 10, 2013 by JuniorCrooks | Discussion: Laptops
Anyone have any experience with Acer Aspires? I have a new Aspire V5-572P. As you can see from the image it is telling me that my resolution is lower then 1280x900 but I have 1366x768 selected. I installed the latest driver offered on the Acer site for 8.1 which is the Intel (R) HD Graphics 4000, driver version 10.18.10.3304. After the update and reboot it did not change anything.

Yes and no. It seems like my taskbar and start menu are to big but when I open windows power shell it opens in full screen and then automatically adjust itself small and I cannot read the text in the window. Changing the font size in display settings does not change the power shell font and I have to use magnifier to read it.

I fixed the problem with one simple setting.

So easy its embarrassing. under display settings click on "make text and other items larger or smaller" change the default 125% setting to 100%. The error then goes away, the taskbar and start menu is changed to the right size and the power shell window becomes readable.

The default is 100%. Dunno how you got on 125%.

Not on my machine JIm. It clearly says default 125%

Where does it say default? I don't see it.
I'm just curious, not to argue, but in the world of percentages, almost always 100 is default.

You are a blind redneck aren't you. If you look at the 2 sizes offered, smaller - 100% the next one under it says medium - 125% (default) I understand that 100% should be default but on my machine (look at the photo) it says 125% is default. Now if 100% was default would it not say smaller - 100% (default)?
