What is everyone up to?

Sunday, September 8, 2002 by Jafo | Discussion: WinCustomize Talk

In the skinning sense, that is...

I'm still tweaking LiteSTEP themes and adding 'fun' bits....adapting them all to OTS.

Waiting [eternally] for Misery [Deaddreamer] to get back to me re a WinAMP skin.

Planning to extend my last WB skin to do more than complement the LS theme, but actually look 'complete' in Exploder.

Just finished a couple of Logons for XP....simple enough to do....seems odd that many don't bother to skin it 'all', leaving boring standard buttons...

So....what are you all up to?...

I don't call myself a skinner either joetheblow. I'm an apprentice.
Come to think of it, I've been an apprentice for a long, long time. I should have my Journeyman papers by now. I have a card in my wallet that says I'm a Journeyman Press Operator, so why not Skinner too?

Too funny. Those credentials and .90 cents will buy me a cup of coffee.

Playing with Axialis Icon Workshop....If it's good enough for the Master Mormegil, it has to be good enough for mere mortals

Wondering if I should bother to upload my latest LS theme. Its nothing special, just an excuse to learn some scripting.

taking a couple of weeks for a morrowind break...

before and after that I have been/will be working on two (and a half?) skin sets and a couple of heavier wallpapers. I'm mainly stalled on scripting stuff on the skins, not so much with knowing how to do it, but knowing what *to* do. I'm not familiar with all the possibilities.

I'm also a bit blocked on what *to* skin, I can't decide beyond a couple of main big apps, especially since I am gonna probably have to buy some of the others In my off-time, I'm goofing around on my site, doing some photo-retouching for fun, working on an animated short or two for my little girl. I'm also trying to dig our ways to make my site profitable for me and yet return all the kindness and education I have recieved. Hard to find a balance that isn't annoying to all concerned.

Pondering...pondering... "The tragic story of a man who could not make up his mind..." i think about everything and end up doing nothing...

I dunno, I'm out of the habit of sitting down and working for hours at a time on this. I need to borrow some focus from someone

I'm in semi-hiatus. I'm fed up skinning on this slow crappy system, so I've taken a break untill I get a new system.
Although I say 'semi' hiatus, as I've dug out Photoshop again recently, and Mike Bryant (MikeB314) and I are collaborating on a new WB skin together.(It's lookin mighty fine).
I also have been trying to save the dolphins, fly to the moon, and eat an entire turkey in one go.
Not all at the same time though.

If I could find a way to concentrate on something for more than 5 minutes at a time I'd actually be able to skin somehting again. Lately I'll get an idea, work on it for a few minutes and suddenly I have no idea what the heck I'm doing.

well, maybe I'll have something by 2010. *s*

Well, I'm collaborating on a skin with Hippy, drinking lots of coffee, and thinking about what my next skin will look like. Hmm, why do I only work on one skin at a time? Perhaps I'm not drinking enough coffee. Can a man survive on coffee and skins alone? Maybe I should get some pizza.

Ok, enough babbling. I've been on vacation from my job for the last week, but I'm back at my desk today. Oddly, it seems I'm here (in the skinning community) more often when I'm at work than when I'm at home. Shhh, don't tell my employer.

I have designed a Windowblinds/Objectbar skin. I have included XP support (and I don't have XP) How is that for an exersize in futility?

i am currently doing a LiteStep dock that runs on top of explorer (or any other shell). smooth 32 bit PNG animations with layercut.dll. (abusing DesktopX zoomer objects btw.) at the moment it is only an app launcher, but as soon as everything works, i´ll include winamp3 remotes, an analog clock, that "Home" object and some other goodies.

final goal is to get a least the functionality of Deadzombie´s docks.
