Question

Does anyone know why my cursor would freeze up. I have to reboot to get it to move again. All that I have changed in my computer was add one stick of 256 memory. Its done that about 5 times today.

Thanks jebland. This board can take a few gig. It did register the ram increase, on both boards. Just doesn't make sense.

Hardware issues can just drive you nuts. I have been fighting for 3 days with my old external CD-RW. I keep getting phantom drive letters for it, and Direct CD cannot format a CD-RW because "it is not responding". I have finally just unplugged and deleted all the CD-RW's shown. When I regain my composure, I will try again to install it. What's crazy is it had been working for several months, and all of a sudden it just stopped working.

Have you tried reversing the order of the sticks of ram?

Brazil- Yes it was (SB) open. I rebooted and it still happened. So it was both ways.Jebland- XP will not let me write to my CDRW but I can read it. I put in the updated drivers but still nothing.

Had the same cursor problem with my logitech wingman gaming mouse. Once I removed the logitech drivers it worked ok...

XP drives me nuts at times. Mine goes off every now and then unexpectedly. All I get from event viewer is "...your computer has rebooted following a bugcheck". ?????

so the mouse that came with XP doesn't work? That is wierd. A mouse usually is the last thing to freeze. My whole computer can freeze but the mouse moves just fine!!! So I am surprised that a mouse can freeze.

This is a ps2 compatible mouse, with the XP default drivers.

Sounds like it is definitely down to the RAM if the problem goes away when you take out the extra stick. Have you tried running with just that stick to see if the mobo just doesn't like that memory at all or something?
