Doesn't coolermaster have a warranty on their parts??

Yes, that's what I did.

The default coolermaster fan in the V8 is clearly not very good...it snuffed it after 3.5 years continuous.

The fins and pipework, however is good...so it's simple enough to swap out the fan with a BETTER one.  The only 'stupidity' in its design is the two screws on the bottom that require the whole animal be removed.

I left them off this time...so next time I need to swap a fan it'll take about 5 minutes...

Re 'warranty' that's pointless as the system was dead without a cpu fan...and if I were to sit on my thumbs waiting for a replacement [assuming it was still under warranty] about all I'd get would be a sore bum.

Downtime is not an option.

I've been reluctant to get one of those automobile sized radiators to cool my cpu when I decide to overclock my rig. I still have the stock cooler and haven't overclocked it yet, but I was thinking about a water cooler when I do. I worry about leakage though. I'm also going to upgrade that Sapphire 7770 GPU to a high end Nvidia after a while.

I have had a couple water cooled rigs , and yes ,they are bulky and not real pretty. But I've never had a leakage problem as they are specifically designed and built to prevent such a catastrophy. I don't really worry about looks most of the time in my builds, I'm too dang worried about keeping everything cool .. LOL. I can tell you for a fact, this big machine I'm using right now generates and pumps out enough heat to keep my bedroom warm with all my floor vents closed in the middle of winter. It's an energy hog with no doubt and spins up with 12 cooling fans to keep it purring.   -- Ace --

They have easier to use "compact" water cooling options now. I've been tempted to get one, but my CM Hyper 212-EVO just does such a good job, I have no reason to upgrade. Two fans in a push/pull config have my 4 year old energy hog of a cpu (955BE) idling at 27c, load at 42c. It's getting to be that time again to build a new rig, but money's tight and this one still runs like a champ.

As to the OP, I had my rig set up like that at one time. It wasn't due to the cpu fan dying though, it was because I didn't realize there was a secret dust screen in-between my intake fans and the front of the case.

Mine looks a little different internally now [different CPU cooler and PSU], but I'll get some newer pics when I pull the beasty out of its pigeonhole later.

I haven't attempted to overclock at this point, but I may do so in the next week or so.

Yes, I spent a while on it to achieve a tidy internal environment and provide the best airflow I could.

Mind you, the case helped make it all possible. Thermaltake put a lot of thought into the design and ensured the cable management was/is first class.

Yes it is! I got lazy at the end when everything tested good and didn't go as far as Starkers did.

Mine started out with neat in mind but a DVD burner and GFX card change, an SSD addition in a 3.5" tray with fan, a card reader and another HDD added along with another 2 case fans and a speed controller...well, neat has gone out the window. Which I am glad my case doesn't have, BTW. It might scare people to see inside the thing.

Like WHOA!!!!  That'd have to be one of the dirtiest cases I've ever seen... could damn near grow potatoes in there.

EDIT: dunno what's going on, but my keyboard misses every so often, thus producing a typo with words sometimes missing letters.

Now Shaunna would say something like "Pitch the bastard to the shithouse", but I think I'll persevere with it a bit longer/maybe try updating the drivers.

Ya I still like your box Starkers.    Mine would never end up that tidy though.  I have to admit I kind of like Jafo's with the fan parked on the cpu, there's a certain charm about it and it's more like something I'd end up with

It was quite easy to keep tidy, given it's such an easy case to work with. 

First: all PSU cables went outside the case through the designated slot.

Second: most of the cable work was done outside the case and fastened down to maximise airflow, etc.

Third: only necessary cables came back inside the case through designated slots and were fastened down.

Easy as falling off a [slippery] log.

And the other thing.... I take pride in my work.

Cable management has always been a PITA for me. I just use many zip ties. I would love to have a case like that Starkers.

So that's where they went.  I was wondering how you did that. "I didn't even know they made 'em that way."
