Windows Xp install problems

I have Windows XP cd from th ecompany I bought my computer from. I upgraded to service pack 3 the disk has servise pack 2. What do I need to do to get yhis disk to work to reinstall windos xp?

You would just install the disk again if you are doing a fresh install and then upgrade to SP3 again is all.

That can't be done from within XP. It won't let you install ealier Service Packs over Service Pack 3. (Which just is stupid)
Can't remember if it can be done on boot up though....

He means just reinstall WindowsXP snowy...that you can do even with service pack 3 installed.

Not from booted up Windows if the version you're installing got Service Packs earlier than 3 - or none.
(Been there - tried it)

Right, you have to boot from the CD, do a clean install and then install SP3 and other updates from Windows Update.

I feel like we might need to mention the data files need to be backed up or copied off first.
