After changing graphics card (hd5770 to 6870) temperature much higher!

Hi all!
Two weeks ago I changed my graphics card from amd hd radeon 5770 to amd hd raddeon 6870.
On the old one (5770) temperature was not exceeding 45 degrees (windows 7x64 environment) but now in the new graphic card (6870) temperature is much higher (about 50-52 degrees). When I paused Descapes (using latest 3.5 version) temperature decreases to 43-44 degrees.
If I disabled option "Enabled support for additional graphic card" - does not affect the temperature.
Can you tell me why this is happening? Is it possible to optimize the temperature of my graphic card when using animated desktop?
Best regards.

You can try this software http://www.almico.com/speedfan.php to see if you can increase the fan speed (be aware the faster the fan the noisier the card). Also as the new card is a higher end model it could be that it just runs hotter than your old one. Try looking at the ATi web site http://www.amd.com/us/products/desktop/graphics/amd-radeon-hd-6000/hd-6870/Pages/amd-radeon-hd-6870-overview.aspx for any information on your card and the optimum temps that it should run at. That site may also have some software that you can use to adjust the fan settings etc as well. Good luck mate
