bootskin & xp pro
not quick enough

Let me start by saying that I've done a search of the forums and I couldn't find anything that matched up with this issue. I know there are a ton of posts and I didn't want to start a new one if there's already a thread about this one.
I've been using bootskin for a long time now and it's been great. Made my own custom skins and everything was going fine until I switched my OS from XP Home to XP Pro.
Now the xp splash screen beats the bootskin image by about 2 seconds. In other words, that first xp boot screen flashes on the monitor for about 2 seconds before the bootskin image loads.
Any suggestions?
On another note, I've got some odd embossed fonts that appear only on the active title bar. Don't know where it came from and can't figure out how to get rid of it. See the screenshot;
Thanks in advance for any assistance. Meanwhile I think I'll re-install Bootskin and see if that does any good.
