Deskscapes pausing on its own
Sunday, April 8, 2012 by gevansmd | Discussion: Animated Wallpapers
Regardless of which animated wallpaper I load, it runs for about 5 seconds and stops. If I right-click the desktop, select pause and then resume, it starts again but pauses after the same 5 seconds. Here';s the dump from the configuration program. Nothing has changed on my system in the last couple of days since this began happening.

What other applications do you have running?
It sounds like something is sending messages which are confusing DeskScapes somehow.
Is this on a laptop?
If the issue is just for videos and they are not looping again then it may be your mpeg decoders have been changed to buggy ones. Have you installed any codec packs?

Hmmm, I did install some codec packs a while back when WMP didn't play some downloaded videos. Maybe it's the mpeg encoded dreams that are pausing. Is there a way to uninstall the codecs? I'll look for new ones and post the results.
Good find! It does seem to be the mpeg encoded dreams.

Problem is solved! Thank you. I uninstalled all my old codecs and installed a new comprehensive code pack. I guess I was running a no-mpeg dream at the time I installed codecs recently and didn't realize it had been broken,

Ok, now the configuration program crashes when previewing mpeg dreams.

More info: the dreams also pause in the configuration program, not just when they're applied to the desktop. Also, the time it takes to pause varies. Seems it plays the animation one time but refuses to loop.
