XP and Bootskins Problem

I just recently downloaded Bootskin as well as SP2, and now when i try to apply a bootskin it says it applies it fine, but when i restart my computer etc. it will run the bootscreen but then a blue "error" screen will flash for a second and it will send me straight back to systems startup and do the same thing over again, but after the second time it gives me the "safe mode, normal, etc. for starting windows"

I would like to know how to fix this problem...as well the logon screens i applied seem to take a lot longer to load my settings than the default one.

This SP2 and apllying skins have really screwed over my comp, i have the alienwares theme and some other skins but now whenever i load up windows it gives the the DiskCheck, even if i didnt force restart my computer, anyone able to help me with this mass umber of problems that came out of nowhere?

Will your PC actually boot into safe mode? If yes then uninstall bootskin and then restart. Be sure to set it to the default bootskin first.
A news item awhile ago said that simply rebooting twice would fix the prob as well. It sounds like you may have different issues though.
Give as much info as you can so that one of the local geniuses can help out.

i don't have any other info, i tryed teh uninstall and re-install thing but it still doesn't want to let it work, all i know is that after the bootskin loads up at the very end there is a flash of a blue screen which some writing but it leaves so fast i can't see what it says, it looks like an error screen though, and after the blue flash it resets the computer and gives me the option to start in normal, safe or last working modes.

And does anyone else have a laggy logon screen? it takes about a minute longer than the default to log me in, and with the alienware theme my logon pic constantly changes back to the alienworl icon thing :/

I have the same problem...exactly the same problem but NOONE seems to have a cure for it. >

I too have the same problem. But first let me give you a little advice. Whatever you do, don't attempt to do a scan disk while in safe mode (for this particular problem). Because when I tried to re-start my computer it wouldn't let me start in normal OR in safe mode after that. Don't ask me how I did it, but after a WHOLE LOT of button MASHING (I'm talkin both hands mashing everykey I could touch) a miracle happened and I was finally prompted to do a system restore. Then when I restarted I was prompted to start in safe mode again. While in safe mode I checked what bootscreen my computer was using (since I had bootskin set to "random"). I found the particular screen that was trying to boot up and deleted it. This solved my problem....until a couple of days later when it happened again . SO, I deleted THAT bootscreen and again it solved my problem....well at least its solved it till next time. And yes, I do notice that my computer takes longer to boot up now that I use bootskin, but the screens are so cool I choose to wait. I hope someone has a solid answer for this problem cuz we'd sure appreciate the help thanx. <

I'm having the same issue and it's been doing it since I installed sp2. The blue screen I get is the dreaded stop error screen. I reboot and it will do it again no matter what boot screen I use. I just went into safe mode, put it back to the default boot screen and it's been working fine.

I do wish someone would find a cure for it, I like running bootscreen.

did anyone have bootskin installed before they installed SP 2?
cause i had an issue with bootskin after i installed SP 2 after uninstalling and reinstalling bootskin, it worked.

I installed bootskin onto my laptop (Compaq Presario 2103US) Running Windows XP Corp Edition Sp2. I have this same problem. I've uninstalled and reinstalled, but every time I try to boot with a bootskin enabled I get the B.S.O.D. Grrr....

I'm running sp2 no errors.. installed bootskin after sp2
