Desktop X start on start-up

Seems all the sudden when I check little box to have desktop x start on start-up it doesn't want to work. Any suggestions?

Just a thought. Are you using theme manager? You can also set progs to start up there as well. If you are using theme manager perhaps the setting is overriding the DX setting. Just a stab in the dark.
