Pin To Start Menu Missing

SKS 7 Pro

Tuesday, January 17, 2012 by RedneckDude | Discussion: SkinStudio

Hey guys, strange thing. I just removed Impulse from my system, and installed all the apps from SD Store.

Skin Studio 7 Pro has a generic icon in the all programs menu (which I can fix), and what's worse, when I right click the shortcut, to pin to start menu, that option isn't listed.

It's there for the other SD apps, just not for SKS.

Small thing, but it should let me pin it to my start menu.

Pin to start menu, and pin to taskbar are both missing.

Windows 7 64 bit.

Edit: This happens on all 3 OSes.

I have a problem where some programs can be pinned and others cannot. Tried everything (including the above) & still cannot find the cause.

The workaround: drag & drop the executable (or a shortcut to it) to the Start Menu (the Start Menu will open if you hover over the Start button whilst still holding the mouse button down).

Hi Ozzie,

Here is an update to some info. I've posted on similar threads that should help you navigate and hopefully resolve your issue. Let me know how you make out with this info. --

You can create your own direct link by placing your shortcut here :

User > AppData > Roaming > Microsoft > Windows > Start Menu > Programs

or this :

User > AppData > Roaming > Microsoft > Internet Explorer > Quick Launch > User Pinned > Start Menu

Hope this helps          -- Ace --

edit : VERY IMPORTANT: you will have to make sure you have "show hidden files & Folders" enabled in your folder options settings.

=============================================
An important point that I failed to mention in the above directions is the fact that if you are creating a shortcut for any kind of "document" file access from the "Start Menu" you will have to use my tutorial from here :     https://forums.wincustomize.com/415238   to create a working shortcut that will be visible in the "start menu"  For example,  I wanted to create a shorcut from the start menu to a storage folder on another hard drive on my rig.  The target path to that folder looked like this ;        Target =  "E:\Storage"      Start in = E:\

If you don't custom create that shortcut according to my tutorial, it sometimes is not visible in the start menu. It's just something you have to play around with if your shorcut isn't showing up where you want it.
