AAARGH!! Stop snapping to grid in DX

Saturday, August 7, 2004 by Mannlister | Discussion: Stardock Software

I have installed some of the latest DX betas so I can try some of the new functionality. Unfortunately, it's completely screwed up all of my objects. I have a real simple setup and I'm using Simple Tome(https://www.wincustomize.com/skins.asp?library=3&SkinID=3341) and a few other text based objects w/a nice shadow and some transparency and the latest versions make these objects snap to grid. I can't move them easily on my desktop and choose EXACTLY where I want to place them. Instead, when I move and object it moves in increments(snap to grid). I've checked the object properties, I've checked the DX settings, I've checked my desktop settings...I've checked everything this is to check and there's nothing indicating why this would be happening. This is happening w/new objects that I've run as well so it's not just my legacy objects. It seems to want to force EVERY object to snap to a grid so I can't easily move and position it on my desktop to where I want it exactly placed.

I'm wondering if this is a byproduct of the new show/hide/overlay feature. UGH. Am I the only one that is is happening too? Oh. Also in the latest versions of Stardock Central whenever I boot up my machine I keep getting the settings screen every time I boot. No idea why and it won't stop happening...frustrating and annoying. >

i've backed down to dx v2.10 and everything works fine. i can move my objects all over, no snapping to a grid and it works perfectly. i don't get the new features of the beta though.
