Windowblinds not loading properly

Hi there,
I've been trying load my old copy of Windowblinds 3.5 (Enhanced version - and paid for) as I find it works better for me on my W2K setup than the newer versions. Trouble is I can't seem to make it work any more. It installs OK, but attempting to load a skin just results in the skin's colour scheme being applied and nothing else.
I've done a few experiments on fresh installs of 2k on two different machines and with varying 4.4 and 4.5 drivers for my Radeon 9600 pro video card. Each time the same thing happens - no skin, just the colour scheme. It seems like the program just doesn't work anymore. I even tried a backed up version of the setup file from an old CD to see if my file had become corrupted - same result.
Does anyone have any ideas on this? Any help will be very much apreciated
