Neil, we know about "my replies" and "my posts" but that doesn't take into account new posts that are found under "recent posts". give us an opt out/in function so we can untick "everything else" if we choose not to see that.

This reminds me of a few years ago when a few members brought nothing but negativity and behind-the-scenes scheming. They were all removed from the site and the forums nearly instantly became lively again. I'm sure many of you remember this, and I think it's time to do another cleaning as well.

Maybe it's just me, and due to the fact my mental illness does quite often make me see things negatively, but the last part of that statement comes across as a threat. Maybe I'm wrong and it's just misinterpretation on my part.

Only if you're beating the wrong horse.

Yes, there are a few existing 'duplicates'

I hadn't noticed many duplicates. But then again I hadn't noticed a lot of these posts until just recently popping up.

Beating a dead horse...sometimes, it just gets tiring.

So does the use of the phrase "beating a dead horse."

And thus such is the joys of irony....

Not a threat at all.  I'm just giving fair warning that I'm not going to let a few members ruin the community for the rest.

I would guess that since I initiated this thread you could be referring to me. I am not some malcontent individual. I have a pretty good sense of self and while not the lightning rod for controversy, if I'm feeling someway about something, then I'm not alone. Just because I don't praise you all all of the time doesn't mean that I'm dissatisfied with the goings on here. I am not a rah-rah person and don't go gooey or starry eyed over some of the things that you do. I give you credit when you deserve it and conversely the opposite when I feel you don't. We're a community and as such have diverse views, get over it.

I will apologize for not being cognisent of what my real issue is with the "everything else" heading and I do appreciate having the opportunity to boil away the garbage to see what remains.

I find the god thread to be offensive. I don't care what religion you are or even if you believe in god or not. I do not however, have any desire to be subjected to whatever it is you believe in. Including one of the three taboo subjects into these forums brings heated arguements and ill feelings. Don't blame me, it wasn't my idea to do this.

Look on the bright side.
YOU have the option to ignore/avoid such threads.

I on the other hand am obliged to 'monitor' them.....

Those do pop up in threads anyway, Greg. The cross linking does not filter as to subject. If you see a title and source which might offend, report it to Moderation. It can be dealt with.

I don't wish to be subjected to those things either, and neither do the Admins/Mods.

No system is perfect. We all rely on each other to help... so please report something offensive if it occurs.

Diverse view are absolutely fine, but those are not the same as actively trying to promote negativity to the community.

the post has been around for almost three years but you know what, I will do that, thanks Seth.

I took a quick re-read of the posts here and didn't see anything, to me at least, that would qualify that statement. I think you all do a pretty good job of keeping out the subjective aspects from diverse comments made and do hope that that continues.

True, but I've only noticed it here on WC recently. Glad you understand the spirit I offered the suggestion in, Greg. Hope you had good holidays.

I've gotten a better understanding of why things are like they are here at WC and I do sense that the staff is working to make it a more enjoyable and peaceful place to be. I also understand that I may need to tone down my rhetoric a bit here and not let my passion over rule my sense of civility, A character flaw that I need to work on.  Just sayin'...          --Ace--
