Please, continue to express your opinion on what you like and dislike. I, for one, love a good argument.

And I fully agree with you that being a member of a community gives you a voice and welcomes your opinion. It is valued, even if disagreed with.

Jesh, I don't understand why this can disturb you that much. Johanne is one of the most important contributors of the skins cummunity ever, in any way you can imagine to see, skinningand theming for dozens of different apps, hellping, designing, web designning, codding, with a personal portfolium that can cause envy to great skinners.
When on day she gots a very impressive number of dlls, for sure a great record
, you run to point a bunch defects on her skin? I'm afraid to say that, but you are wrong! The amount of downloads she recieved during the last hours are in her skins to prove you that.
As many people around here knows, I'm not a XP fan, because I don't like to see OS clones, but those skins were originally made by her and I am a testemony of that, I was on her side all the time during it's build.
I'm being around the skins cenarium during the last 2 years and I chalange anybody here to say that I ever made a bad comment on one single
skin, even if I hate it, I just add a comment if I think I a can put the person up, so please let us enjoy this special happy moment and if you have nothing good to say and have some extra time, go spend some time skinning, you will see, it's fun!

This knowledge puts me in good stead to moderate/rate/comment on another's attempts/creations. This, for example, is why I'm so vitriolic about photoskins in WinAMP...[spawn of the devil].
One of the most annoying things with creating LiteSTEP themes was having non-themers belittling the effort with comments of 'shitty wallpaper' or such-like.....when the real 'artistry' was actually in the Step coding and interface function....things totally lost on someone who has never done it.
Peer comments....commentary on your work by a fellow skinner who actually 'knows' what it's all about is always going to be of far more value to you as a skinner than someone in the public arena saying 'yeah, but it's XP'....

Alex, you devil....you sold out to the 'Gods of XP',...congrats for the bandwidth drain....[but I love you anyway]....

I've bee using several of your XP variants this week. My absolute favorite is XP Forest. I've only recently started to learn skinning myself, so now I have an even bigger amount of admiration and respect for those that take it upon themselves to give the community new and creative ways to look at our desktops.Reply #32 Wednesday, October 24, 2001 8:32 PM
I agree with treetog that all the downloads yesterday prove that there are *alot* of people that love them too.
Great job Alexandrie, thanks for sharing!

Congratulations Alexandrie! You're one of the best there is. Great up the great work!

You know what aggravates me i think. I'm sick of these OS ports and variants being heralded as art. I'm sick of people coloring over other people's stuff and calling it there own. Thats basically all i see here. Winxp this and WinXp that. MAC this and Mac that. Yeh they can be cool. But give me a break. This whole side of the community is nothing but a port rips and revamps in the last 4-5 months. How many win xp icon sets are there. Thank god for icon sets like Nitrogen and Yttrium. Real art inspired by the guys head instead of some apple of MS artist.
Time to start a revolution/evolution here. Time for original art to come back in style and to ditch these lame OS rips. Hey they can be cool when they are few and far between but this is getting ridiculous. I'm keeping some points of views to myself as to not start some shit but this site doesnt seem to be flourishing all that many original artists and its a shame when i know these same OS port kings and queens could be putting out some kick ass stuff.
And yeh brad of course the counts growing higher... its the featured skin.

If you want to see unoriginality, you should go look at what the hackers are doing with the patched .xpstyles stuff. It's like going in a time machine back to 1999. "Hey look guys, I almost have an Aqua skin done!"
