Looks more like the 10 best reasons why it's called a Developer Preview and is not yet Gold/RTM ...

Well, Microsoft is not like Stardock... they usually don't care about negative report of their beta build... specially when the main critic is aimed to a major feature of their "to be" OS ( i am thinking the Metro GUI )...

I am not that impressed with the newer Windows OS versions, Windows 7 is annoying enough for me based on my limited experience with it. And besides, if I wanted a glorified smartphone, I would just get a tablet, instead of a PC with that disastrous looking Metro GUI. I really hop Microsoft realizes what a terrible idea the Metro GUI is.

And I can hardly wait to touch my big, shiny, hidef LED monitor all day with my fingers.

It uses less memory, and apps which allocate empty memory blocks don't get exactly what they asked for so memory pressure on lower end systems will be improved.

It also has DirectX 11.1, and WDDM 1.2.  Can't tell you what's new there yet.  The Protogon file system is expected to be available, as it's shown up in bits and pieces but wasn't enabled in the Dev Preview.

Otherwise, it's pretty much all http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Windows_8 http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Features_new_to_Windows_8 and http://blogs.msdn.com/b/b8/ so far.  I doubt we'll know everything long before the public beta hits.

Given all the 'non' hype over Win8 so far I think its best to wait and see where all of its going first. Bottom line .... if you can't skin it like W7 what's the sense.

I'm gonna be preordering it (especially if they offer upgrade copies for $50 again!)  Even the alpha rocked performance wise and Protogon sounds like MS giving me exactly what I wanted.

Savyg hit on a very good point.  If upgrade copies become available at a reasonable price then some folks minds may change their mind.

We all need to keep in mind also that what is being 'leaked' as to what Windows 8 will look like may not even be close to what gets released.  Microsoft could even delay the release of Windows 8, atleast for desktops, if the customer base doesn't warm up to the Metro GUI.

I will keep looking at what gets leaked and try to keep an open mind, but as of now there hasn't been enough shown to cause me to want to upgrade.

I know I already said that I wasn't gonna upgrade to Win8, but i'm tempted to run the Developers Preview anyway.  I wonder if the .iso will load in MS Virtual PC 2007, and nobody tell me.  No spoilers please.

I wonder if any current Stardock programs will work on it and such.  Let alone to see whether "Metro" is as inferior as it sounds.  Heck, at least the preview's free!  So i'm not complaining.

Again, no spoilers.  I want to find out for myself.
