how to get taskbar functionality resembling ubuntu?

Saturday, November 19, 2011 by zeroality | Discussion: Windows 7

I installed Wubi so I could dual boot Win7 and Ubuntu.

After playing around with Ubuntu, I decided to move my Windows taskbar to the left of the screen and put it on autohide so I could get better accustomed to Ubuntu.

I'm liking the setup so far, except for when something on the taskbar wants my attention. An Instant Message, for example, will flash and force the taskbar into view until I bring the IM into focus.

This is pretty annoying. Is there a way to make it more like Ubuntu? The taskbar only briefly comes into view and the application icon in the taskbar will 'shake' a little. I'd love to get that going here.

I've spent the last half hour googling, It doesn't seem like StarDock, EmergeDesktop, etc are what I want. Any ideas?

Could be done, but probably not only by "skinning"

I would guess there would be some "deeper" coding involved.
