"Pink" everywhere in my skins... how can I fix this?

Friday, June 25, 2004 by Xtopher | Discussion: Stardock Software

I think this is a transparency issue? Isn't the pink the default color for transparency when developing skins?

So why this, then:

What can I do to fix this?

This is the formula to make the "magic pink" that is recognized as transparency

Sorry, my problem is as a user, not a developer. I realize my original post wasn't clear.

This is a problem I am having USING the skins...

so is the problem with the skins' authors then? I can't imagine that, because everyone would be complaining then. Is there something I have to do in my WB settings to get it to work as a transparency?

Or is this a graphics chip issue on my end?

What version of windowblinds are you running?

I don't believe that the area showing in your screenshot as anything to do with a windowblind skin. Those panels aren't skinnable. You have something really weird going on. Maybe it is your graphics card or monitor. Does this happen on every skin? And are you using the highest color setting in display? Are you using the right driver for your graphics card?

This problem does occur sometimes. It's because the transparency is not enabled on the Start Menu Places List Item. For what ever reason, it works without this setting on some systems and not on others. I never see this on my system, however, I always set the transparency for all start menu items on my skins because of this 'quirkyness'.

The only way to correct this skin is to open it in SkinStudio and enable transparency.

I'm running WB 3.4.

It doesn't just happen on the start menu, but also other spots, too:

Color depth settings for my display make no difference if I change them. I'm running in true color mode, though.

It does Not happen on every skin.

WB 3.4
My guess is that some of the skins you are using don't have the deprecated WB3.X features skinned. Might be time to upgrade to WB 4.3.

Yeah, that version is way to old for newer skins. Its sort of like trying to run a leaded gasoline car with unleaded. Follow post #7, problem solved.

Yep, that did it. I was away from wincust.com for awhile & hadn't realized v4 was out. I upgraded and now all skins are fine.

Thanks for everyone's help!
