Explorer Malfunction?
This is just odd...
Thursday, October 13, 2011 by RedneckDude | Discussion: Stardock Support General
OK, I know redneck hillbillies are supposed to be backward, but this is too much!
When I right click on anything in explorer, and mouseover any item in the menu that opens a second menu, that second menu should open to the right of the first one, unless to do so would cause it to open off screen, correct?
Well, I just noticed that the opposite is true. It is odd and I have no idea why it happens.
Anyone have an idea?

just did this: went to the old Impulse/new Gamestop and uninstalled WindowBlinds, then to StarDock and saved stand alone WindowBlinds, then ran the MS updates, 14000 and some odd files and rebooted. Installed the stand alone WindowBlinds Version 7.3 [build 310x64, windows 7] and applied the blind Prelude which I just bought. All seems to be doing alot better, more like it should be with explorer menu's and such. But my mail proggy, incredimail. still has issues where I have to right click on an e-mail and choose "open" to veiw, thats not right. So, I am still taking up much needed computher time, tinkering with that, so may have to use Office for a while, which I haven't checked out yet for issue's. BUMMER!!

This is WindowBlinds 7.3 bug... Look at the instructions which help you to solve a problem:
1. Press Start button --> then press Run
2. Paste a string: shell:::{80F3F1D5-FECA-45F3-BC32-752C152E456E} to the "Run" input box and press "Ok"
3. You'll see the "Tablet PC Dialog". Open the "Other" tab and press "Left-handed" radio button. Then press "Ok"
That's all. This will set all menus, submenus, context menus, etc... in Windows 7 to open correctly.
Best regards.

Works like a charm!!! Thanks!
Edit: Nope, it worked for one right click. Now it's back as it was. [e digicons]:'([/e]

This worked at first but reloading a WB sets it back to "Right-handed"

Impossible... Don't change WB skin and it will work eternally.
You need use this "patch" each time after applying new skin in WindowBlinds. At least until this bug will be fixed...

All this SNAFU started AFTER the Tuesday MSUpdate. I had to do a complete System Restore and now everything has been returned to a more normal SNAFU period.

Well ... its kinda like this. I am not going to apply a patch each time I change a skin, I'll live with it. It isn't that much of a bother.

Just noticed it is doing this very same thing in Windows XP 32-bit, SP3, all updates current. Menus moving left and right off of main right click menu is extremely erratic. Sometimes it works correctly, but most times not.

The only time the sub-menu should be on the left is when there is not enough room for it to appear on the right, period. In WB 7.3 the only time it is appearing on the right is when there is no room on the left, like everything is reversed.

Could someone please move this thread to the Support area, I don't think it is going to get noticed in this area. Thanks.
Thanks Doc and Hank!

Exactly. Thanks for moving it, I should have put it there to begin with, I guess.

Oddly enough I removed windowblinds completely and the issue was still present until I ran the fix Vad suggested.
Reply #35 Friday, October 14, 2011 2:27 PM
That is odd, but the fix VadM suggested has to be reapplied every time you change blinds.
One thing I wish to point out is that I never stated that this has anything to do with windowblinds. That was inferred later.

Any idea why clicking that link launches WindowsMediaPlayer?
and Dickhead is busy but said it launches Quicktime on his.

It's probably my ftp server. Use IE to download and change ext to .reg
If you want to do it the old fashion way:
Notepad:
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Windows]
"MenuDropAlignment"=-
Save. Rename .reg. Merge. Reboot.

I did it the old fashioned way. Worked great!!! Until I changed blinds.....

This isn't rocket science, yokel.....there's obviously a problem with 7.3.....this only gets you back to square 1....
.....pick a blind and live with it until they fix it!

with me, it the position of the second menu will depend upon where my mouse was when I right clicked the first time. When you get closer to the middle of the screen ( horizontal middle ) the slightest deviation can make a difference.
I updated with the download and not impulse and I get the same behavior on a system that doesn't even have windowblinds installed on it.
