Why was my Logon Studio Skin rejected?

Ok, I was wondering why my Logon Studio Skin was rejected. I read the copywrite information...and I guess I just don't understand.

I made a Roller Coaster Tycoon 2 (RCT2) Logon Studio skin....I tried to submit it here and they said it violated their copywrite. Uh, the thing is I've seen Zoomers for Desktop X that were RCT2. Also, seen Object Dock Icons/Png images with RCT2 on it.

So, I'm trying to figure out what I need to do to get mine accepted?

To get something like that accepted you would need to ask for permission from the creators and/or publishers of the game. As I understand it, icons, zoomers and objects like that are accepted because they're only small and used sparingly, and covered by the fair use policy I think since it's used to start the actual software. Don't quote me on that. I'm not a lawyer or expert on copyright laws.

So, once you get permission from them and include it in the package your work should be accepted but ultimately it's up to the moderators.

Well, that's understandable, I think....but there is also a Windows Media Player skin with RCT....

But another question.....here...why no notification...and where did it go?

That was what the other thread was about...I'm aware only one thread would have been fine...but this one is for copy write issuse and the LOGON STUDIO SKIN

I'm a Mod at a forum....I know how to post...the only reason I added the LonOn question to the other thread with the BOOT SKIN question...is that they both DISAPPEARED without any explaniation from anyone!!

TN Brat!.... I don't know what happened with your skins, but let me clear up a few things for you.

There is no auto generated email for rejections, they must be generated maually. There are a few reasons why you may not receive that email. It could be simply an oversight, the email(s) may have failed, the Mod may have assumed you aleady knew the reason, since you have received a previous email concerning copyright...... etc.

The other thread was locked because, although you had one thread for a BootSkin, and one for a Logon, both can easily be addressed in one thread.

You state in the other thread that if copyright is a problem, then you can edit until copyright isn't a problem. Why, don't you do that to begin with? Then there will be no problem.  
(I've never completely understood why people insist on using copyrighted material without permission anyway.)

TN Brat It's really not that hard to understand, if you want to make a Roller Coaster Tycoon 2 logon contact Atari Corporate Headquarters via the following http://corporate.infogrames.com/corp_worldwideoffices.php

And if they give you permission, then include that permission with your upload and voila. HOWEVER if they do not give you permission , I wish you the best of luck, because in order to avoid copyright issues you would have to create your own images, not stuff pulled from the game.

I just searched the entire library and all that is here is a simple object dock icon that says Roller Coaster Tycoon 2, that is eactly what the regular icon says, so the user who uploaded that simply made a bigger, graphically enhanced version.

To deny something for copyright issues is easier than telling someone their work is not good enough. Therefore if something is submitted and it stinks and has copyright issues then I would think they would just call you on the copyright issues and not say anything about the quality. No feelings are hurt that way.

If my skin isn't good enough that fine! I'm not trying to get support to get in accepted. Like I was saying, I can learn from a skin being rejected for quality......

My question in the thread that was closed is
WHERE DID MY BOOT SKIN GO?
I never received the auto generated "we received your skin, it will take 5 day...." what ever.....
The Boot skin has NOTHING to do with ATARI or Roller Coaster Tycoon anything!!!
Any copyrighted material in the Boot Skin....had permission attached.
As a matter of fact no only was I given permission, it was a REQUEST made by Daniel Brauer, of Dock Zone. He sent me an email with the image he wanted me to use and I made the Boot Skin for him.
That's why the second topic....because the issue was NOT copyright and NOT about it being "rejected"! It was because the whole thing disappeared!!!
I understand that the rejections aren't auto generated....
But the "Thanks for submitting...it will be up to 5 days..." thing is auto generated....
I never got anything.....and while it was in my skins page for a little while saying "Waiting on approval"...Then it wasn't.....

Could someone PLEASE help me out on this?
Please, don't tell me any more about copyright issues. I under stand that......

I wasn't sure about the Logon Screen.....but I am now, ok. Not an issue.

I can only speak for my self when I say, I didn't understand how the whole COPYRIGHT thing works. I Havre read everything on this site about COPYRIGHT before I submitted & I had also read the ENTIRE site, too.....

You don't have to complain, all you have to do is CONFIDENTIALLY email an admin and ask why it was rejected, I'm sure they would be happy to answer, but spamming the board with rants about your stuff getting rejected isn't the way to go about things, we have already stated the rules above, and you continue to say you don't understand, well let's make it simple. If the graphic used was pulled out of the game or off of the site or anywhere else, other than being made by you, then you can't use it without explicit written permission. I already told you above that all you need to do is to contact ATARI Corporate Headquarters and ask, so why didn't you just do that?

1. I made a BOOT skin!
2. With DOCK ZONE images!
3. Daniel Brauer owns ALL Dock Zone images!
4. Daniel Brauer ASKED me to make the BOOT skin!
5. I proveded EXPLICIT WRITTEN PERMISSION in the READ ME text!
6. I submitted the BOOT skin!

I don't see the point in yelling at the members of the community about this issue. It solves nothing and doesn't make any friends. Many people have suggested that you contact a admin, yet for some reason you seem to prefer this approach. I really don't see the point to it. I do suggest that if you do decide to resolve this issue with the only ones who can do anything about it(I.E. an admin), that you try to be a little more cordial in your manner. This yelling approach will not help you in any regard.

answer: Only a admin/moderator will know for sure. So, CONTACT AN ADMIN!

answer: I assume it was moderated by an admin/moderator. So, only they know for sure. Therefore, CONTACT AN ADMIN!

3. DID THIS SITE ACTUALLY RECEIVE IT?
answer: Only a admin/moderator with access to received files would know the answer to that question. So, CONTACT AN ADMIN!

I know you were talking about the Logon....I all I tried to say, was simply that I understand the Logon issue....I understand the copyright issue....I understood those days ago with the other posts and replies that were left for me.....I didn't understand the disappearing thing.....and people kept talking about copyright....when the question I had wasn't a copyright issue.....see....

and for the rest of you who didn't bother to try to help BEFORE I got upset ....what do you expect? I kept asking one question and that wasn't being addressed.....they were addressing a completly different issue.....

I have NO problem with my work not being good.....It doesnt bother me one bit....because it can only get better....see? If I cant make it better....oh well, then I can give up.....I'm trying to say that the skin was good at all.....I'm not upset because it was rejected....IF it was rejected....that's not the issue....

I guess that I'm the ONLY person who has ever went to their skins page and found that the skin they submitted was just gone....just plain gone.

I do realize that I should and WILL ask and Admin about it, but before I bothered them.....when I'm sure they are always getting UPSET people asking WHY....so I thought that maybe someone else had this happen to them, too.....then they could have tolde me "yeah, my skin has disappeared before too....." OR maybe someone could said, "Uh, no..hmmm, nope never seen that happen before...."

I started out VERY "little more cordial in your manner."....but after over and over being told "You are violating copyright laws" when I clearly wasn't......then I got a little upset....And I apologise, Specifically to DWatson, he was addressing the copyright question...And I was asking a NEW question......That was my point when I was "Yelling"

So, to DWatson, I am sorry for exploding...honestly....I read your last post and you were treating me like I was an idot.....but you and I must have gotten our wires crossed, because I admitly didn't understand the copyright thing....but that was days ago, before anyone explained it.....My post earlier this morning was strictly about another issue entirely....And I did get loud to try to attempt to clairify what I was asking.....So, again, I AM SORRY.

Trust me it happens, I have had many walls rejected for not being quality and I know where you're coming from, I'm just trying to help you be patient and make friends here. When they don't accept your work, the only thing to do is keep trying until they do accept something

Oh and YES I read it....but you obviously anything I wrote! Whoever you are get out of my topic...The locked thread, no one addressed the disappearing issue, duh! Only the copyright....and the link you so kindly posted for me to read doesn't say that things just disappear! So why don't you do like my Boot Skin did & just disappear....

That was all I needed to hear....Yup...that's it! Sometimes things just disappear....they (the admin don't always send anything to let someone know that the skin was rejected......They are busy and sometimes they just reject things....and then they disappear!!! Thanks a LOT, DWatson.

If no-one contacted you then who said this? Anyway, that's beside the point. Items subject to copyright will be rejected. You will just have to accept your work didn't pass moderation and move on. All this ranting isn't going to change anything.

Time to change subject...
