Is making a skin in Universal skin Format really that different from UIS2?

Just wondering... what are the differences and if anyone noticed proformance hits between the 2.

Both skin all parts of XP right?

Doesn't SS save a Universal skin format into UIS2 when applying it to WB? Anyhow, I'm afraid I've given up working in Universal Skin format as it had too many compatability issues when applied to WB...there are all sorts of bits which it fails to "convert", and so they don't work. As an example, the mouse over graphics on the start menu wouldn't work at all in Universal format, but worked (without changes) once I switched to UIS2 and put the settings back as they
should be (SS didn't convert the graphics at all and
just missed them out!).

My advice would be, if doing anything complicated for WB then use UIS2 directly for now...maybe eventually the universal format will work fully, but not for now.
