Updated Stardock Central causing Desktop X problems
Sunday, March 14, 2004 by AustinPowers | Discussion: Stardock Software
I don't know what that means. I finally uninstalled everything...desktop X, window blinds, Cursor XP...everything. Cleaned out the registry and reinstalled everything. I still get the same message. Window Blinds seems to work okay, but I can't dload and apply any Desktop Themes. I don't recall ever having this problem prior to the Stardock Central program upgrade. Any ideas? Thanks.

...and no you cannot (until such time as they fix it) install from SDC. The error message was caused by both the fact everything was installed in the wrong Folders, but also the 'SDC auto-install' problem. You fixed one (and in the long run you'll be glad you did...that was a pay me now or pay me later thing) and the other will be fixed soon. In the interim:
Enjoy

OK....open DX config and Delete the "Visus Theme". We're going to do it again (I'll leave it to you which is easier) Open SDC as before to 'Skins and Themes' and on DesktopX Themes and this time double click on 'Visus Theme'. When the download manager comes up click on 'Extract' and then 'Extract to' and point it to C:\Program Files\Stardock\Object Desktop\DesktopX\Themes. Your Theme is now in your system. Until they fix the auto install with SDC, that's the best your going to do. For what it's worth, they are working on it and I have no doubt it will be corrected soon.
