I have never killed a man, but I have read some obituaries with great pleasure.” – Clarence Darrow.

 There, fixed that for you.

but a sea burial is a sin against the person

It's not a sin against the muslim deceased but is only to be used when the person dies at sea and is too far away from land to be buried in the earth.  However, I think it was appropriate given that the U.S. supposedly said they didn't think anyone would accept the body and that his grave would become a shrine.  Although, that might have been a good way of finding terrorists.

I had heard ( in addition to the above ) that burial at sea was also appropriate if there were a more than reasonable chance that the land grave would be disturbed.

In any case there was no reason at all to give him anything "according to Islam". In doing so you have sanctioned his actions as being according to Islam instead of "radical Islam". The "radical" Islams are going to be pissed no matter what.

His body should have been desecrated beyond belief as was Sadaam's.

It's great that OBL is dead, The burial at sea was so there would be no actual grave site that other followers of him could rally at. even so the man is now a martyr and while it's a good thing that he is dead, Don't for a second think that this is the end of his influence. Personally i think the american military and government would have been better off just killing the asshole and keeping it to themselves because by announcing it, while providing something for the american people to feel some sense of justice is just going to enrage those ill informed who venerated OBL. I hope i am wrong but all i can see now are more and more terror attacks of some sort.

maybe I misunderstood the announement but burying the body within 24 hours was the only attachment to the muslim traditions stated. for all we know he was booted off of a chopper at 300 feet with 500 lbs of attached weight.

and, I'm okay with that.

That isn't the only requirement.  http://www.al-islam.org/laws/burial.html

didn't say it was, I'm saying, I think it is the only one that has been referred to from the WH as being observed. just an observation, nothing more.

Agreed.  It would have been more than enough to say to yourself "Good."  Instead, you have all these idiots dancing around.  What better way to make the rest of the world say "See, I told you they were idiots."  Idiots.

I can understand the frustration behind the 9/11 accident but after you read about it and if you research more and more you cant blame bin laden you have to blame the people that hired them... to attack their own people of their own country.
You guys just fallow the game and didnt do your homework. Stars and stripes isnt all about glory. Sorry just my 2 cents
This topic is again something that provokes others to think that all people that look closely like him are enemys and thats just plain wrong.
Please do your homework and google about who hired the al -qaeda and trained them all that financial support had to come from somewhere.
Its now stated as myth-I wonder why
Then again watch the video footage about the twin towers. a vertikal pop explosion ? starting from the bottom heading to the top ? How is that possible if all the heat was in the upper area.

Ive been called an utter dumbass, for WAY less.

way to go

I hope they kept pictures /proof etc... so we don't end up with moon landing type debates...

While I want to believe he's gone, I have to wonder.
They have announced this morning that they have confirmed it's him by DNA testing.
I was under the impression that DNA testing took longer than 12 hours.
Can anyone weigh in on how long it really takes to get a match.

I was just watching a news channel, and the ticker on the bottom was saying something like,
Pres. Obama has decided NOT to make photos available...  and then something about said photos being a security risk...

A security risk?  How does he figure a photo being a security risk?
It's nothing more than evidence that another terrorist is dead...

Hmm, lemme see, you mean exactly the way those people on the news on 9/11 did,
jumping up 'n' down and dancing about laughing, burning the Stars & Stripes when the Towers came down?

I say let the people you call idiots celebrate as they wish.

Having said that, whether people celebrate or not, I can't help but wonder:
who, where and/or what is going to be hit first as a result of the Military action that resulted in the death of the terrorist...
In my opinion, they won't sit still on this, terrorists never do.
Everything with them is about revenge, making it not a question of "if", but "when".

schleimig...

I am going to exercise the privilege of position and call you an idiot.

Please go away.

sorry, but is this not a forum for people opinions?. Just because you don't agree with him what makes you think you can resort to abuse? For someone who is meant to be a moderator i am quite disappointed Jafo. Yes i don't agree with what he said either but i aint about to make myself look the fool by making silly comments like the one you did. Sure disagree but keep your dignity while doing so, After all schleimig is entitled to his/her opinion on this FORUM and shouldn't be belittled or abused because of it. Shame Shame Shame.

P.S. I still think your a legend Jafo just wrong this time

The decision not to release pictures makes me wonder even more. They showed pictures of his son and the courier but not bin laden.

I wonder if it was a suicide. He said he wouldn't be taken alive and the only reason I see to not show pictures is they could cast doubt on the story we are being told.

In my opinion, not supplying proof makes Obama look like he's running the country like a 3 card Monty game.

I find the timing of all this funny. Obama relesed the forged long form birth certificate on the White House website the other day and it gets little to no news coverage because of this.

BTW, if you haven't checked out the long form birth certificate, download it from the above White House link and open it up in Adobe Illustrator.

It is so obvious that it's been edited and manipulated that it's comical. The editor didn't even try to hide the manipulations or flatten the document.
