Messed up DesktopX
Tuesday, February 15, 2011 by Z71kitty | Discussion: DesktopX Tutorials
I tried to install a desktop but it would just hang because of the zip code problem in the weather widget. I deleted the "faulty" desktop theme and now every time I try to open DesktopX 4, it still tries to load the deleted desktop. I cleared the widget cache and anything with the desktop theme name in it. I have uninstalled and reinstalled DesktopX 4. I don't know what else to try. I am new to Object Desktop. Thanks for any help.

try deleting the 'current theme' folder instead of clearing widget cache
or dont open dtx - right click a new theme and open with dtx instead

You'll have to kill DesktopX in the task manager.
Then go here: only using your info in place of mine:
C:\Users\Jim Dillard\AppData\Local\Stardock\DesktopX Delete the current theme folder.
Then revert to DesktopX 3.5 for less problematic use.
This is why I feel that all the non working weather widgets should be pulled, as WC said they were to be, back when I pulled mine.

Ha. I have fixed the problem by installing a theme that was a good valid theme. Hope this helps anyone with a similar problem. Thanks all who replied. I'll save every ones info for my next big goof-up.
You guys (and girls) rock! Thanks
