What is your score?

Thursday, August 9, 2001 by MadIce | Discussion: WinCustomize Talk

I am interested in how high your scores are.

I figure that I was a real nerd, but I only scored 25.60%. Who is the biggest nerd on WinCustomize?

Two new entries in the top 10: Transmutate at #8 and Jafo at #10! There are two other new entries also coming from WinCustomize: Xymantix (#14) and BoXXi (#31). In the last four entries we see two women who have probably a real life, but Mack/N.G.E. surprised me. How come that a guy like Mack (who has one of the baddest and meanest machines in this community and is dedicated to the preservation of the idea that Nvidia drivers suck) has such a low score? There is something fishy about his score! Finally Alberto is disqualified because he is not willing to take the test

MadIce, a lot of the questions are related to schooling. I think I scored low because I am completly different than I was 20 years ago. Computers very scary machines to me back then. I loved poetry and hated maths. I avoided every science and math class as much as I could and I oriented my eduction towards liguistics and litterature.
Now, years laters, computers have changed and so did I. Although I have a low geek score, I really think I'm more of a geek now than the test shows.

Well, I had to miss out on all those US-centric college questions, but I do have a shuffle stick and know how to use it, and I have used a paperclip to punch cards by hand....

Paxx I think you are right. I studied social sciences and became a social worker specialized in drug addicts in Amsterdam. I was doing computing just for a hobby since 1979. Since 11 years I am programming for a living. As you can imagine all the questions related to exact sciences are beyond me. An autodidact like me is doomed to have a low score.

Oops. I lied. I just calculated that I am doing programming for 15 years.

hi, my names peter, i was referred to nerds anonymous by my best friend called modem, and, and, [pause], im a, [pause] a nerd

clap clap clap clap

thanks peter, being a nerd is a disease, it controls your life, but have taken the first step to becoming back to your real self. You must try your hardest to resist the temptation of returning your computer. Remember, we are all friends here and we will help you. Maybe one day you will be able to join the world and go to party's once more.

pj - some of them (well, most) and the ones like: 'did you ever major in...' or 'did you ever do this or that for money' are a bit difficult to handle

Thanks bananafactor! I will add you to the list. ElfMaiden is still on top with 37 %. I guess that would make you #3!

"Spell-checked by Jafo" should be a registered trademark and be part of a defacto standard quality certificate used by all human spell checkers.

Hope I didn't make any errors in that.
