Need help with a theme I downloaded!!!

Flash theme by gef.

Monday, January 31, 2011 by LucifersChylde | Discussion: DesktopX Tutorials

I recently purchased the theme Flash by gef. Unfortunately I did not notice that it was made for a 1680x1050 screen resolution. I am working on a laptop with a max res of 1280x800 and the set up will not fit the screen. I found a way to change the size of the objects that run scripts by editing the script itself, but this causes me to lose much of the graphics inside the object i.e. it cuts off part of the meter texts and so forth. I am completely new to all of this and therefore have no clue what I am doing yet. I love this theme and seriously want to find a way to get it to work the way it should on my laptop. I have also encountered a problem with the Xion skin that came with it. For some reason it will not load as .png file and that is what the image inside the folder is. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thank you all in advance.

Although I haven't seen gef here recently, you could try emailing/pm'ng him?

Can you PM me a phone number, or get with me on a yahoo voice call, skype? I can help you, but typing isn't my forte. Some things are hard to explain in text.

I would need to talk to you.

Then again, I think I have the skin. I don't think there is any reason I couldn't modify it for you and send it to you, if we know that you purchased it too. Dunno if that is acceptable, I'm sure a mod will read this and say if it is a violation or not. I wouldn't think it would be.

Well, it seems I don't have it. I thought I did, I have almost all of Gef's work.

I can still walk you through fixing it, but we need voice.

Hey RnD,

Thanks for all of your help with getting that theme to work. It looks great!!! Take care bro, and hopefully at some point I will be able to build one of these things and have you work on it with me.

LC, It was my pleasure. I'm so happy you are pleased with it now.  At any time, if you decide to try making a theme, I will be glad to help. Just holler.

RnD,

I don't know if you received it or not, but I sent you a pm as well as an email. I would very much like to try making a theme of my own, but I am very unsure as to where to start really. I would like to talk to you about how to go about things so that perhaps I can get through it without too much of a hassle. I sent you a wallpaper that I would like to use for a theme, let me know what you think could be done around it. I would like to keep a lot of the elements that are in the theme that you helped me with, just restyle them a bit. I am open to ideas, you have a great deal more experience with all of this than myself and know what is truly possible. Get in touch with me any way that you have the time for and we can talk about what I would like to do versus what is realistic. Take care bro, and have a good day.

We can't use those as they are Gefs. We can make our own, like those. I'll be in touch, a tad covered up at the moment.

You could, technically, modify any theme for personal use. You just can't upload/redistribute it without permission.

Also, more karma to ya, Jim.

That is true, Eve. I guess I already helped him do that...lol.

And thanks for the k. You rock too! Thanks for the taskbar effort for the WinMonster project.

RnD,

When I mentioned wanting to keep many of the elements from the theme that you helped me with, I was not suggesting that we just modify his theme. I simply meant that I wanted to keep the same kind of setup, I want things to fit together the way that one was supposed to initially. I would also like to learn how to create/keep the search windows and links that he had in the drop down portion of the windows. I don't know if you can help with any of that at all, but I would like to try if you would have time to help.

Thank You,

LC

LC, I can help with that, and will be glad to.

Give me a few days to catch up here and I'll get with you on it. In the meantime, if you haven't already done it, go here and read my tutorials and get as mixed up as possible...lol.

This way, you'll hopefully be ahead when we start.
