Rejection Notice Understanding

Saturday, January 15, 2011 by DaveBax | Discussion: Community

Need a little help from long time member’s as I have never had anything rejected before. My latest upload of Docks was rejected saying I needed permission from the skin artist. What I did was make docks using the same colors of a skin made a month ago but never used any parts of the skin or design. I didn’t have to mention the skin name, artist, and put a link to the skin in the write-up but did it for a curiosity to the artist and felt it was the right thing to do. So I have 2 questions.
1. If I would have left out the 3 things I mentioned above in the write up would the skin have been approved?
2. Because I used a color combination of something someone else made but used no skin parts, graphics, or design, is this a violation?

Also submitted a Rainlendar skin and not Rainmeter skin. I think this is just a mix up as I was informed that all Rainmeter skins were being help till there were several of them and then they would be uploaded. Again the skin I submitted was a Rainlender skin and think its being help by mistake.
I have received no notification at all about this skin but guess I will upload it again and add the permission because it also uses the same colors and information in the write-up as the Docks.
Thank you

PS: The docks were just accepted after I added an email from the artist from a few days ago however would still like the answers to my questions please. Nothing about the Rainlendar so will upload it again now with the same email.

As for it going through moderation, she is a Master and her work is not moderated.

But I do believe Masterblinds still get a looksy by mods to ensure it's complete and such.  Which would actually constitute moderation.  I could be wrong though.  Just ask my wife.

However....if you yourself knew where your 'inspiration' came from then it is your conscience as to whether it was appropriate to include the author's name/reference and/or permission.

All boils down to a question of honesty and intellectual integrity.

This was answered previously Dave, don't you think?

Not sure what you mean "don't you think" I try to be as honest as one can be and I did say in my last post the colors inspired me to make it and that is why I felt it necessary to include the link. Just didn't know it needed permission using a link that was all. Sure wasn't trying to pull something off. Finally did get my last question answered by Jafo that seemed to be an easy one to answer but took a long time. OK, I have my answers.

Correct. They're looked at by I.D. As for the rest natas2, ask your wife.

Not sure what you mean "don't you think"

What I meant was that part had been answered in response #1. The rest should be intuitively obvious.

All is good. Don't always say things the way they should be said I guess. But again all is good and I know you all know I am a bit thick at times but 5 minutes its like nothing ever happened. You all have a good night as I have been up since 5AM so the computer is going to sleep for awhile.

Doc confirmed your right. I have yet to upload a master skin so I forgot that they were.

I've got to put that on my to do list...although I feel kinda funny charging for something I've given away for free, for so long.
