Why does DesktopX use so much CPU?

I'm running the GT2 theme by gef and it uses 40 to 60 cpu cycles per task manager. My machine is 1.3 ghz P4, 384 ram, Radeon 9600 w/128 ram, XP Home Edition.

You need to explain what you mean by 'cycles'. What reading are you looking at?

I'm running the the GT2 theme and I added a simple cpu and mem meter and added a calendar and weather object(I took the included objects and just replced the background image on both to match the theme). The DX cpu meter moves all the time from about 20 to 60 percent. The readings I'm refering to are the ones from XP task manager- The Process' tab shows desktopx.exe at 25 - 35 and on the performance tab it shows 63% CPU usage.

That's a good figure...I think you'll find the CPU clock cycle hits are from Object Dock. Kill OD in Task Manager and see if your CPU % drops....

The screenshot you are looking at has changed since I posted that this morning.
Now, I forgot to mention, I added two DXinternet meters also. And I justed deleted them and now the CPU Usaged dropped to 1 - 5 % Now I'm happy. Any ideas as why the two meters where using up cpu?

You're messin' with my head, Joe 
...some meters have a pre-set that they refresh the reading...every 2 seconds or every 5 seconds, etc. You might be able to increase that setting so it doesn't eat up your CPU clocks. Internet readings are tuff 'cause the time frame is usually short and it's constant. If you can get it down to around 15%, that's about the best you're going to do with them...
