DXMedia tutorial?

Tuesday, November 25, 2003 by thundr51 | Discussion: Stardock Software

Ok, so I finally figured out how to get the player functions connected to a button but does anyone know where I can find some info on making stuff for volume, song name and such.

Do the peeps at stardock HATE documentation??

In the DesktopX\SDPlugins folder you'll find a DXPlayer.txt file. Double click it. It will give answers to a lot questions like that. Maybe I should update that file some time, because it probably assumes an older version of DX.

I think Stardock is doing a good job lately. There is a cool doc for DX. Forgot the link, though. Anybody got it?

The point is that programmers are... erm... programmers. Writing good docs is not something every programmer can do or likes. ObjectMedia/DXPlayer is not popular enough to invest money to write a cool doc like the DX one. So, that text file is all there is for now.

MadIce sneaks out.

thanx for the help. Now If I can only figure out how to do those nifty 'run' boxes everybody likes doing. I'm working on a sweet gamecube theme but I don't think it'll pass moderation as I haven't seen ANY game system related themes around...

anyway, I think the software is GREAT! As a programmer myself I know how much of a PAIN it is to write documentation but alas it's necessary, otherwise you get tons of people saying something doesn't work/is broken because they don't know how to use it. Since I started writing the docs for my software, when somebody comes with a complaint that something doesn't work/is broken I jsut tell them to RTFM!
In stardocks case, that's kinda hard to do if there isn't one

edit: I already went through the manual...doesn't say anything about creating a volume control (or dxmedia for that matter). No biggie I figured it out myself..
