images for objectdock and icons HELP

After creating an image to use as an icon or png for objectdock, how do i save it in PS7 so it's transparent and only displays the image and not the background???

first make the image on a new level that is transparent. Then right before you save delete the background level. Save as a png and your set.

After  you've created the image, it may be too late, or at least more difficult. You should start  with a transparent background.
