How to create Live Folders
Tuesday, September 28, 2010 by PianoArt | Discussion: Icons
Hi everyone!
Just wanted to ask you if somebody knows how to make/create Live Folders, or if exist some tutorial for this, i googled around and didn´t found nothing.
For e.g. how to create those 3 icons LIVE FOLDER (Front), LIVE FOLDER (Back) and the most difficult for me is LIVE FOLDER (Data).
There is a lot beautiful IP´s for XP that i would like to use, but there is no Live Folders inside (of course), and i would like to make my own Live Folders for them.
Thank you in advance

It's a folder when empty only shows the folder, but when there are files added the icon shows the files in the folder.

It's a VIsta/7 thang.
I agree with PianoArt. There are some excellent IP's in the gallery that would be so much better if they were brought up to date with live folders.

Here is what I did to make one...
Find an IP with a live folder and extract the 3 images, make your own folder parts in photoshop (or whatever editor you use) using the extracted folder images as a background being careful to position yours over the left folder edge of the ones you extracted. Then delete the background and save wherever you like.
Once that part is done, open Icondeveloper and create the icon. Then it's just a matter of putting it in the IP you want it in.
I know that is a pretty simplified way of putting it, but if you need a bit more detail, just let me know. ![]()
