desktop x help

when i load desktop x and download new things for it they dont work like the fish it dont move just stays in one part and the defult desktop x desktop dont seem to fuction right eaither like wen i double click on the side bar on the defult desktop it dont do nothing it wont let me custimize it or nothing can someone tell me what wrong with it i downloaded it of component manger thanxs for the help....

desktop x version 1.96 running on windows xp home on a pentuim 4 1.60 giga hertz with 256 mb ram 40/80 gigs hdd's nvidia geforce 2 mx with s video out dvd/cdr-rw burner combo cd rom drive sound max digital audio sound card 1.5 mbps dsl connection running off a cnet pro wl pci fast ethernet card hope this is enough info to help me out thanxs

You need to download current beta version 1.99h[b].002. Get it thru SDC.
