HEH... question about the .png format...

I kind of thought if I made a series of panes and save as a .png, it would be the same as saving as a .gif. Not so. How do animated .pngs work?

Anymated PNGs for DX? If, for an example, the images of each frame are 20 by 20 and you have 5 frames then make one large PNG of 100 by 20. In your graphics program add the first frame to that image at (X=0, Y=0), the second at (X=20, Y=0), the third at (X=40, Y=0) and so on. To keep it simple, the frames are ordered left to right. Now select the States tab of the object properties. Add the image to the correct state. Then select the Animation tab (below the list on the States tab) and at Frames enter the number of frames (in this sample 5). You can set the interval at Interval (ms) in milliseconds (1/1000 of a second). For an example, to use an interval of 1/10th of a second one would use 100.

goodmorphing......   animated png's aren't animated, unless you have an app that uses them. DX, HvD, etc....

Thank you both...

I use Image Forge a lot for animations, but sometimes it is buggy. Now I will stop blaming that program! In my imaginings I thought this was an answer to the compuserve .gif problem.
