Object Bar / How to get IE to auto resize within the bars?

Friday, August 15, 2003 by Waldo1967 | Discussion: Stardock Software

I'm using the Pixstudio object bar with the bottom task bar, left side bar, and top bar . . . and I want IE to open up within the space that's left over so it doesn't go overtop of the bars. I've looked all over for any options, but I stumped.

I realize I can just move the window size, but I want it to be able to resize automatically within that space when I click on maximize.

Thanks.

PS, I'm using a combination of DesktopX, Windowblinds and Object Bar, in Windows2000Pro.

If you are using DesktopX, you can set the Work Area with DX. I used it for ObjectDock for pretty much the same reason. In DX Properties, go to the 'Theme Settings' tab, and in there you can set the Work Area to whatever you like. I set the bottom to 48, so all maximized windows were abobe ObjectDock. Very usefull function.

Thanks, that worked. I had some trouble though getting the bar on the left from resizing itself. When I shrunk the work area in DesktopX the bar kept shrinking too. I finally found I had to go to the advanced options of the bar and de-select where it says "When finding the size of the screen do not include the area taken up by other bars". Hmmm. Man there's a lot of options with these things!
