Some New User Problems
Saturday, July 19, 2003 by rincewind | Discussion: Stardock Software

I recently bought Object Desktop and am having a few probelems with the Window Blinds 4.10.010 component.
Problem:
The short cut for WindowBlinds in the start menue does not do anything. Well, actually it does do something, it loads 'wbload.exe'. It is infact wbload.exe that does not do anything. It will run in the task-bar for a microsecond, but nothing results. I can load WindowBlinds by using the wbconfig.exe, but something tells me that I might be missing out on some things... I can load the themes included with WB no problem.
Another problem I have is with WinStyle. If I use it in my 'Display Proporties' (use meaning clicking on any of the components or selecting a style (such as BeOS 6)) it will crash the Display Proporties window. Nothing happens except that, thankfully
. Additionally, if I do the same thing in WinStyles it crashes. Version for that is 1.42.007.Everything else I've tried is working alright. I enjoy WindowFX and IconPacker and will be tinkering around with ObjectDock when I find some more time... For now I'm just interested in getting windowblinds running correctly.
I'm running: Windows XP SP2, 2.3Ghz/1gb P4

You can change WindowBlind skins with the Configuration dialog, or in the Appearance tab of Display properties. The wbload.exe is just to get the program running.
I know very little about WinStyles, so I can't help you with that....
