Ever changing icons
Monday, July 14, 2003 by Mark Haupt | Discussion: Stardock Software
I've got WINXP Home SP1 with all latest updates. P4 2.2ghz machine with 512mb of RAM and 60gig of hard disk.
I've changed the usual desktop icons to those supplied with the Chaninja theme. The theme works fine. However, after a day or two, the icons change back to the original XP icons.
I've deleted and rebuilt the iconcache.db file. I've made sure the Icon BPP is set to 16 in the registry. I've made sure the theme is saved.
Still no luck. After a couple of days, the 'old' icons are back. I know it's a PC problem, but I've not been able to figure this one out.
Also, I’m using the DLL patch rather than stylexp.exe to use not MS themes.
I've been able to narrow the problem down to running of scheduled tasks. For some reason, when the tasks setup under Scheduled Tasks run, the icons change back to the WinXP icons when doing a right-click->refresh.
This is really odd.
Has anyone else run into this problem?

Does this change happen with other IconPackager themes or just Chaninja icons? >

Not happening since corrupted files have been fixed.
