Personal site.

Thursday, August 19, 2010 by JuniorCrooks | Discussion: Stardock Support General

I cant add favorites. I get this message

Sorry, you currently do not have the appropriate access to use the add favorite skin function. In order to use this feature you must first activate your WinCustomize Personal Page.

To activate your WinCustomize Personal Page visit "Personal Site" tab in your settings. Once you have created your personal page you will then be able to add favorite skins to your site.

The problem is I cannot find the link to do what it is asking me too. I see the link for My Site but when I click it I receive

Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage

Is it an internet explorer 8 incompatability? I also noticed spell check will not work with this site but works on other sites. What am I doing wrong?

Go to a skin in the gallery you want to add as a favorite. Below it, left of the download button, you'll see add to favorites. Click it.

Yes DC but I get no message. Just a blank of the box I typed in. The words disappear completely. Sorry we have to seperate issues going on in this post. I would rather have the favorites problem fixed.

I thought someone mentioned before that the Settings link was missing since the site change. That's where you'd create your personal page, etc, but I can't seem to find that link anywhere.

Yeah I can't find it anywhere also. I would think it would be under the My Site link at the top but clicking on that does nothing.

So how did you solve it?? I'm getting the same problem and I have Firefox3.6

I just signed up for the "WinCustomize" site so I could add favorites. I already have Impulse and Iconpackager working. I just want to have a list of which ones i download in case i wipe my computer again... but I can't add anything to my favorites. Why can't they just activate via email like other people?

jexadox, I sympathize with your frustration, but if it's only to store a list (basically) then why not take advantage of MS Skydrive? It's free online storage intil SD fixes that functionality.

If you don't like Skydrive for whatever reason, try this article...it has a good and recent summary of free online storage:

Hope this helps in the meantime.

Personal sites are not a feature on the site.

If that is not good enough there is a tab that says My Site and that tab does nothing. I am not complaining though, its not a big deal.

I don't want an online storage, i want a way to see on Stardock all the skins i've downloaded and like. like the "dragon" one. try searching for it... did you know that's a pretty popular name? i like the one with the dragon on the start menu that pops up and blows fire. so i want to set it as a favorite. i STILL have this problem and it's a current problem, not outdated. sry if i post to a forum u've all forgotten.

There IS no settings tab to edit. i CAN'T FIND where you add anything remotely close to "MY SITE" i can't even find a SETTINGS tab. if someone knows a way to cheat the links to do this (such as entering /settings to the html address) i'm open to suggestions. this is VERY frustrating.

jexadox:

Can't help you with skins you might have downloaded in the past. Setting up a file to store them as you download them is easy using Windows Explorer.

If you purchased skins, they should appear here: https://store.stardock.com/login.aspx

As for the rest, please see Island Dog's reply.
