Desktop theme manager and Control panel

Monday, June 28, 2010 by Patrick Garrison | Discussion: Stardock Support General

Good day.

The Theme manager downloads okay, but then "dies" when it tries to extract itself from the compressed transfer, with no files being uncompresses. Control panel keeps giving an "error" when I try and download it. Environment is Windows 7 Professional, 64 bit.

Any ideas appreciated.

Thanks!

By Control Panel, do you mean Impulse?

Thanks for the fast reply.

It's the Stardock control center that errors out, whilst attempting to download it under Impulse.

What is a Stardock control center? Which program is giving you the error?

Perhaps you could grab a screen shot with the "errors out" message so we could understand which piece of software and how to help you better?

I'll be glad to if you can coach me through posting a picture from the local hard disk. Jpg file.

Stardock ControlCenter is very old, and is only compatible with Windows 95/98/NT/2000. Regarding the error you are getting with ThemeManager, please send an email to [email protected] referencing this thread.

Thanks - I've noticed other items in the list return a "not compatible with your current operating system" if I try and download them - perhaps the same flag to check for the O/S should be set on this one as well.

Again, thanks for all your assistance and prompt responses!

Sorry to be late getting back to you. (Patients...and patience  ).... Theme Manager is buggy, and we've been promised a fix, but I guess it's one of those things that're "still in the works".

As for "Control Center", that went the way of the dinosaurs and isn't compatible with your OS. I agree that a flag/pop-up would be nice, also...that Impulse sense your OS and not make incompatable available on the list in the software tab.

On the other hand,it would be nice to be able to download and archive without installing all apps we have available to us as part of  our ODNT sub regardless of the OS in use at the time.

You should be able to download and archive now without having the app installed.

Nope,it gives you the "not compatible with your  current operating system" error and won't download. I know they not compatible with Win7 but I would like a copy anyway without installing another OS to get them. Anything that appears under "My Software' should be "mine" so why is this not possible?
