In my case, sadly, it's both pounds AND inches.... an abundance of waistline inches.

Well, it makes sense that all those pounds of curried cabbage would require an eight inch waste line, at least........ otherwise the toilet would constantly get backed up.......oh, wait a minute....you said waistline not waste line, sorry My bad!
