One disk drive icon refuses to update automatically
Thursday, June 10, 2010 by sophiesboy | Discussion: Icons
Along with my internal disks, I have an external disk attached to my computer. At some point in the past, for some reason I no longer remember, I manually altered the disk icon (right click, properties, etc.) This was back under XP as I recall.
Now I am working with Win7 64-bit, running IP 5.00.021 (32-bit it seems) and I have realised that no matter what Icon package I apply, that drive icon never changes.
Is there some way I can restore/repair the icon for this drive so that when I apply a package it updates and matches the other drive icons?
I can get there now using right click-> change icon, but I would rather not have to do this manually.
Would some combination of rebuilding caches or repairing shells and images get me where I want to go?
Thanks in advance for any thoughts.

Update,
Curt looked at my problem and told me to delete the file "autorun.inf" and that did the trick. Great tech-support here.

sophiesboy,
I'm running Windows7 too and have the same exact problem as you. I lost the icons asociated with one of my drives and everything I've tried doesn't work. Now, today I lost the main WindowBlinds icon and can't get it back.
I see your post is over a month old, maybe someone here can help us both.
Thanks.
